Budget announcement statement from Andy Briggs MBE, Phoenix Group CEO: "The way Government invests alongside the private sector will be critical boosting growth in the UK. Today’s changes to the fiscal rules make economic sense if implemented in the right way. As a committed domestic investor, we hope these changes will ensure our capital works better alongside the Government, and helps catalyse investments in the social and economic infrastructure the country needs. "As the UK’s largest long-term savings and retirement business, we are also keen to see what comes out of the upcoming pensions adequacy review. It is crucial this review takes a comprehensive view of both private and state pension provision. The most impactful step would be to incrementally raise minimum auto-enrolment contributions beyond the current levels of 8%. A phased approach to 12% could ensure increased savings without creating undue strain on businesses. It would bring us in line with other nations across the world and result in a much higher standard of living for UK workers in their retirement.”

Did you know that encouraging mid- to late-career workers with relevant skills and expertise to take up ‘green’ jobs will be pivotal for the UK’s Clean Power 2030 mission? Read our latest report, ‘Resourcing the Net Zero Transition: What Do Workers in their Mid- and Late-careers Think of Green Jobs?’, below as we explore perceptions of green jobs, and the need to retrain workers to meet the UK’s net zero target. 3 key findings are: > Workers over 50 in sectors with transferrable skill sets play a vital part in the nation’s net zero transition. > Phoenix Insights’ research has found that many such workers are hesitant to take on these new roles (citing concerns such as job insecurity, salary expectations, unclear job descriptions and uncertainty about their qualifications). > Encouraging workers with relevant skills and expertise to take up ‘green’ jobs in the short term is pivotal. #NetZero #Careers #Insight #Report

Our business is built around colleagues who want to make a difference. This #MenopauseAwarenessMonth we’re celebrating Mandy Reid who leads our wellbeing community. She has been instrumental in developing how we support our colleagues, in particular around menopause and mental health. Last month Mandy and the business were recognised by becoming finalists in the Best Individual Contribution and Peer to Peer categories at the Menopause Friendly Employer Awards. The latter celebrating organisations that have created the best approaches to enabling peer to peer support. Well done Mandy and thanks for all your efforts in helping our colleagues stay in work so they can continue to save for their future.
