🌍 At the upcoming World Urban Forum (WUF12) in Cairo, influential voices in urban planning, policy, and sustainable development will converge to address some of today’s most pressing urban challenges. Convened by UN-Habitat, this year’s theme, 'It All Starts at Home: Local Actions for Sustainable Cities and Communities,'emphasizes the importance of citizen participation and community-driven solutions for achieving sustainable, inclusive cities. 🌿We’re proud to announce that Prof. Husam AlWaer B.Arch, MRTPI, Ph.D, BREEAM AP, AoU, UDG will represent Urban ReLeaf at the Forum, participating in the session, 'Green and Thriving Neighbourhoods in Latin America and Around the World'—organised by C40 Cities, Inter-American Development Bank, and Politecnico di Milano. Joined by esteemed speakers such as Hélène Chartier (Director of Urban Planning and Design), Vanessa Alexandra Velasco Bernal (District Secretary of Habitat), Elisabete França (Secretary of Urbanism), Daniel Mancebo (General Coordinator of the Planning Office), and Israa H. At the World Urban Forum in Cairo next week, global leaders, politicians, urban visionaries, architects, planners academics, and change-makers will come together to tackle today’s most critical urban challenges. Convened by UN-Habitat, the Forum is a high level, open and inclusive platform for addressing the challenges of sustainable urbanization. The focus of the forum this year is : "It All Starts at Home: Local Actions for Sustainable Cities and Communities" focuses on citizen participation and the importance of community-driven solutions for sustainable and inclusive cities. Help us showcase the city’s beautiful parks and greenspaces by joining the Urban ReLeaf photo competition. Running throughout October, simply submit a photo via the ReLeaf Cities App to participate. Why Dundee? Dundee is Scotland’s greenest city, filled with iconic parks and hidden green gems that are vital to our daily lives. As autumn sets in, it’s the perfect time to get outside, capture the beauty of these spaces, and celebrate their role in our community. What’s the Competition About? The Urban ReLeaf photo competition is your chance to share how you see Dundee’s greenspaces. Whether it's a stunning shot of nature, a special connection between people, or something uniquely Dundonian, we want to see it! On Friday, October 18, Vedant Mahajan and I are running a photo walk through three of Dundee's greenspaces. The walk will be an opportunity to reflect on these spaces and their role in the city, and also to take some photos with your phone! 🤳 Vedant will share his tips on selecting what to photograph and how.
