Fact 2: The use of magnesia is irreplaceable in over 100 industrial applications! The famous ones being steel, aluminum and glass production. But magnesia is also paramount in polymer applications such as mineral flame retardants or synthetic rubber. Magnesia is even used in sugar production. Fact 3: More than 98% of magnesite is used for magnesia processing. Fact 4: Nearly 80% of the worlds deposits of Magnesite are located in China, Russia and North Korea. Fact 5: Magnesia's high temperature stability enables the extended and more efficient operation of furnaces used in recycling materials like steel, cement, and glass. Derived from magnesite, magnesia’s unique properties make it indispensable for high-temperature applications and essential for producing key materials like steel, cement, ceramics, glass and even components for renewable energy technologies. Magnesite vs. Magnesia: Magnesite is a naturally occurring mineral (MgCO₃), Magnesia, on the other hand, is the product of heating magnesite at high temperatures, removing carbon dioxide (CO₂) and leaving behind MgO. Without magnesite, magnesia would not exist, and without magnesia, the world as we know it wouldn’t exist either.
