Building up on the learnings from 3 days of #GOGSFE24, the final day of the Community of Champions event last week featured government representatives across multiple ministries. It fostered greater awareness and collaboration between energy officials and agriculture, education, and health counterparts, regarding electrification of productive uses and public Institutions. SEforALL’s Senior Energy Specialist Rahul Srinivasan emphasized the importance of such convenings: “Bringing together multiple government ministries is crucial to coordinating and optimizing investments in powering productive uses and public institutions while simultaneously contributing towards multiple United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: SDG 2 (hunger), SDG 3 (health), SDG 4 (education), SDG 5 (gender), SDG 7 (energy), SDG 8 (work and economic development), SDG 13 (climate).” 🚀 Let’s continue driving progress toward sustainable development by powering critical sectors! #SDGs #CleanEnergy #TransformingLives #TransitioningEnergy GOGLA, The World Bank, ESMAP - Energy Sector Management Assistance Program

🌍 Youth and Gender Take the Stage at the ENERGYNOW SDG 7 Action Forum! 🌍 We are proud to share highlights from Sustainable Energy for All's impactful session at the ENERGYNOW SDG 7 Action Forum. This session, titled "Mainstreaming Gender & Youth for SDG 7: Challenges & Opportunities for Young Women Entering the Workforce,” emphasized the urgent need to address gender disparities and create opportunities for youth in the energy sector. With clean energy jobs expected to grow to 30 million by 2030, now is the time to bridge the gender gap. Currently, women represent only 32% of the renewable energy workforce globally, as reported by IRENA. The panel advocated for policies that are responsive to both gender and youth, ensuring that women take a leading role in the energy transition. Key takeaways include: ☀️ Inclusivity: Intersectional and intergenerational approaches are essential for a just energy transition. We must include the voices of youth and women in all decision-making processes. ☀️ Diverse Educational Pathways: Only 60% of future energy jobs will require post-secondary degrees, highlighting the importance of vocational training for young women. ☀️ Key Skills for Success: Young women entering the energy sector need a blend of technical knowledge and soft skills. Essential skills include effective communication, collaboration, adaptability, broad technical expertise, and strong networking abilities. Asma Rouabhia powerfully called youth to action, stating, "We need your leadership, your commitment, and your courage to drive forward the energy transition." At SEforALL, we are committed to fostering an inclusive workforce where young women can thrive. The future of sustainable energy depends on it! 💡💪 We extend our gratitude to United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, ESMAP - Energy Sector Management Assistance Program, SDG7 Youth Constituency, Student Energy, We Are Family Foundation, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Shortlist Futures, and CDP for their contributions to this successful event. #GenderEquality #YouthEmpowerment #SDG7 #SustainableEnergy #EnergyTransition #WomenInSTEM #SEforALL

👭 This #InternationalDayofRuralWomen, Ms. Fatmata Kamara shares how as she was preparing to deliver her baby, she had flashbacks of her near-death experience from her previous delivery. The incident which was due to a power outage, left her scarred for life. 👩 But Fatmata smiles - and so does her newborn - as she recalls how comfortable she was going back into the operating room on seeing the entire health facility powered by reliable electricity, thanks to the UK-funded #SierraLeone Healthcare Electrification Project. 🏥 25 community health centres in rural, hard-to-reach areas in the country are currently being solarised through the project implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Sanitation, Sierra Leone, EM-ONE Energy Solutions and Tetra Tech, positively impacting many rural women in the country. ✊SEforALL is committed to #poweringhealthcare and improving the lives of rural women in Sierra Leone and around the world. 🌍 Collaborating for Sustainable Cooling Solutions ❄️ On Day 3 of the #GOGSFE24 forum in Nairobi, SEforALL, in partnership with The World Bank and ESMAP - Energy Sector Management Assistance Program, co-led a session on ‘Cooling to Improve Lives and Livelihoods.’ Drawing from our latest joint report “Sustainable Cooling in Off-Grid Rural Areas” (https://lnkd.in/deQfYWYb), the session spotlighted exciting innovations in technology, business models, and finance for sustainable cooling. Key actions were outlined to create an enabling environment for these solutions, which are crucial in addressing climate impacts and improving lives in vulnerable communities. As SEforALL’s Rahul Srinivasan stated: "In a warming world, access to cooling is no longer a luxury but a basic right. Cooling is essential for protecting lives and livelihoods— reducing exposure to heat stress in homes, schools, clinics, and workspaces, vaccinating young children and indisposed adults, and improving productivity of those who work or study under challenging heat conditions. The energy, health, education, and agriculture sectors must prioritize sustainable cooling which is linked to the attainment of several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals." Let’s work together to advance these solutions and create lasting impact. #SustainableCooling #EnergyAccess #ClimateAction #SDG7 #TransformingLives #TransitioningEnergy Leo Blyth, Clemencia Torres de Mästle, Ben Hartley, Elizabeth Wangeci Chege, GOGLA
