📖 A 2023 study published in the Equine Veterinary Journal provides valuable insights into how high-level competition affects stride and jumping characteristics in eventing horses. Key results show that blood lactate levels, a marker of fatigue, were positively correlated with the mean maximal strike power (the acceleration in the vertical axis) at jumps during the last minute of the course. This indicates that as horses become more fatigued, their strike power increases. 📈 However, this increased power was negatively correlated with the mean stride height over jumps, suggesting that fatigue reduces the height of the horse's jump. 📉 👉 These findings highlight the impact of fatigue on performance and emphasise the need for targeted training programmes to improve stamina and efficiency in eventing horses! #eventing #equestriansport #hosehealth

Some owners said they are even considering relinquishment or euthanasia, yet many emphasized the vital mental health benefits their horses provide. ♥️ The findings from this study underscore an urgent need for more support within the equine community.
