We're welcoming some new students to the Vienna BioCenter PhD Program (pics from top L to R). Niccolò De Marzo from University of Gothenburg joined the lab of Sofia Grade at Institute of Molecular Biotechnology to study neuron-glia interactions in the newly forming circuits after brain injury. Sneha Bisht from IISER Mohali joined the Peter Schlögelhofer lab at Max Perutz Labs Vienna. Her project aims to understand the molecular underpinings of meiotic DNA double strand break formation. Umi Mohammad from the FH Campus Wien | University of Applied Sciences joined the lab of Diana Pinheiro at the Research Institute of Molecular Pathology (IMP) to investigate the gene regulatory networks linking cell fate and mechanics in human gastrulation. Clara-Anna Wagner from University of Vienna joined the Shotaro Otsuka lab at Max Perutz Labs Vienna. In her project, she aims to elucidate the role of the endoplasmic reticulum to nuclear envelope (ER-NE) junctions in nuclear homeostasis.
