Bernd Humpl, hydrogen expert at VTU, discusses how green hydrogen, produced from renewable energy, plays a crucial role in achieving climate goals and advancing the energy transition. As industries like steel production seek to decarbonize, green hydrogen offers a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels, significantly reducing CO2 emissions. VTU, with its extensive experience, supports companies in adopting these technologies, from initial analysis to full project management and implementation. One standout initiative is "3H2," which aims to establish a cross-border green hydrogen infrastructure by 2035, connecting France, Germany, and Switzerland. This collaboration highlights the growing importance of hydrogen in creating a climate-neutral future. VTU is at the forefront, helping industries transition to greener solutions. As a company with a huge affinity for sailing ⛵, we are proud of the success of Tomasz Feret from VTU in Poland during the J70 Italy Cup in Riva del Garda. Just before the regatta, Tomasz’s crew underwent a significant change. Due to the absence of one member, the team made a bold decision to invite Tomasz’s 17-year-old daughter Oliwia to take the helm. This brought new energy and ambitions to their lineup. The conditions were variable, with winds ranging between 12-22 knots. The Vento (north wind at Lake Garda) clashed with the Ora (south wind), creating challenging conditions. The crew's perceptiveness and open-minded strategies were key to navigating these difficulties. On the first day, they completed three races, focusing on strong starts and strategic positioning relative to their opponents. This strategy earned them the 7th place overall, the 1st place in the Corinthian category, and the 1st place as a crew with a female helmsman 🥇. Despite the tough conditions, the team fiercely defended their positions, especially in the categories where they were leading. After two intense races, they secured the following results: 8th place overall 1st place in the Corinthian division 1st place with a female helm 3rd place in the Garmin Cup (Best Boat of the Day) 🏆 Next stop: Malcesine! Congratulations on these impressive achievements! 🎉 #VTU #TomorrowToday

In July, members of VTU's Legal, Digitalization, and Marketing departments came together in Vienna for an amazing cross-departmental team event 🌟 After productive strategy workshops for each department, the group headed to the Danube Canal for a surprise activity – a graffiti workshop led by professional artists⛫💨. Everyone had a blast experimenting with colors and shapes, resulting in a massive spray-painted VTU logo. Check out the results! After channeling their inner artists, the team cooled off at "Beach Bar Herrmann" along the Danube. The day wrapped up with a delightful dinner at the "Salon Plafond" restaurant. From the focused workshops to the creative graffiti session, it was a fantastic opportunity to strengthen bonds within and between the departments while enjoying time outside the office. A big thank you to everyone who participated and made this event unforgettable! 🙌 #VTU #TeamEvent #TomorrowToday

We are excited to announce a new article by our VTU colleagues Florian Pöllabauer and Wolfgang Koeck, along with Christine Gröll from Alpacem Austria and Helmut Flachberger from Montanuniversität Leoben. The paper, titled “Modellbasierte Rohmehlrezeptsteuerung für eine CO2-optimierte Klinkerproduktion” (“Model-based Raw Meal Recipe Control for CO2-optimized Clinker Production”) 📄📝, was published in the June 2024 issue of BHM Berg- und Hüttenmännische Monatshefte 📚 (in German only 🇩🇪). The cement industry faces the challenge of reducing its CO2 footprint 🌍. One effective strategy is the increased use of low-CO2 substitute raw materials in clinker production 🏭. This article details the development of an advanced process control system to optimize raw meal production at the Wietersdorf cement plant of Alpacem Zement Austria GmbH 🏢. By employing inline analysis technologies and an optimization algorithm , various qualities of substitute raw materials can be simultaneously utilized, significantly minimizing CO2 emissions 📉. Currently in the testing phase, this tool aims to enhance product consistency and increase the substitution rate, thereby reducing the overall CO2 footprint 🌱. Read the article here: https://lnkd.in/dMzarEm3 Congratulations to the authors! 🎉👏

The largest running event in the region south of Munich – the Alpenland company run – took place again this year. The motto was: lace up your sports shoes and head for the starting line. And of course, sporty VTU colleagues from the Penzberg branch were participating!   Around 2,500 runners were expected, and the event was fully booked. The field of participants was a mix of top runners, sporty and amateur runners, and Nordic Walkers also took part.   A supporting program was also provided: Radio Arabella hosted the welcome and the warm-up. The award ceremony was followed by an after-run party with a live band.   Congratulations to the VTU runners from our Penzberg branch. #AlpenlandCompanyRun #TomorrowToday
