Just returned from an incredible press trip from Sicily, thanks to the generous invitation from AB Comunicazione and the Consorzio di tutela vini DOC Sicilia. I had the privilege to attend some remarkable programs, including the Symposium by Fondazione SOStain Sicilia; the Master Wines of Sicilia DOC masterclass, where we explored the finest Grillo, Lucido, and Nero d’Avola; an enriching tour of the Regional Center for the Conservation of Viticultural and Agricultural Biodiversity and the historic Nursery “Federico Paulsen”; and the Beyond the Classics masterclass, which introduced us to the unique native wines of Sicily DOC. I also visited some fantastic wineries— BRUGNANO WINES, Bio Fattoria Augustali, and DUCA DI SALAPARUTA SPA O PIU BREVEMENTE D.D.S. SPA. I am looking forward to sharing more about this unforgettable experience and the remarkable wines of Sicilia DOC! LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. They say it in real estate, but in wines, it may hold even more importance. This is especially true for Tiare... ⬇️ Tiare owns around 10 hectares of vineyards, with parcels located in two of the most prestigious DOC areas of Friuli – Collio and Isonzo. 🇮🇹 👉 These areas lie between the Alps and the Adriatic Sea, resulting in a significant difference between daytime and nighttime temperatures. This provides the grapes 🍇 with ideal conditions to ripen while maintaining their natural freshness. ☝️Not to mention the soil types (marly soils in Collio and gravelly soils in Isonzo), which further help preserve that freshness. It is here that Roberto Snidarcig crafts wines with distinctive character.🍷 👌I had the chance to discover this a few months ago at the wine bar of Il Cavalluccio and would like to share my favorites: ▪️Collio Malvasia: Super ripe stone fruits backed up by white blossom flowers and acacia; slight butter and brioche notes; a creamy palate with vibrant freshness and a long apricot aftertaste. ▪️Sauvignon Blanc: Italian herbs with basil, rosemary, green bell pepper, and gooseberry, all continuing on the palate with an oily texture. Great balance between acidity and alcohol, with a long herbal finish. ▪️Rosemblanc: Super ripe fruits of golden apple, yellow pears, honeysuckle, and mirabelle, with a hint of curry. The palate is just as complex and spicy, with medium-plus body and ripe stone fruits that carry into a never-ending finish. Excellent quality wine. ▪️Pinot Nero: A rather spicy and more serious wine with red cherries, cranberry, blueberries, and a medley of spices: coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla, toffee, and mint. Youthful and light, with the same flavors on the palate as on the nose, high acidity, smooth medium tannins, and a spicy aftertaste. Which wine would be your favorite? 🍷 ➡️ PS: If you are in Vienna, Il Cavalluccio will hold another tasting with Italian sparkling wines tomorrow. HARVEST EXPERIENCE IN TOKAJ. What did we pick? It wasn’t Furmint, let me tell you that... ⬇️ A week ago, I spent a wonderful long weekend in Tokaj at Sárospatak and visited the Harsányi Pincészet for the very first time. However, this wasn’t the usual visit—this time, I went to do some work!🍇 I received an invitation to their harvest festival, which took place on the Ciróka vineyard, one of their most important single vineyards. These couple of hectares have belonged to the family since 1850. We can find Furmint, Hárslevelű, and Yellow Muscat on these slopes. We harvested the Yellow Muscat🍇, and it was already a late harvest in the middle of September! The bunches were full of dried grapes. Yes, climate change plays a big role here too, but we still have to wait and see about those noble rot conditions. That will certainly come a bit later.💁♀️ I enjoyed the work;🤗 it’s always great to see firsthand the hard work that goes into our favorite bottles.🍾 Of course, we also visited the cellar, where the main focus is either on keeping the fresh aromas using only stainless steel tanks or allowing the single-vineyard selection wines to mature in Hungarian oak barrels for added complexity.👌 ☝️I tasted a good deal of their selection and was really impressed by the quality, especially the potential for these wines to mature over a longer period. Most of the single-vineyard wines were from the older vintages of 2017, 2018, and 2019, and they still showed vibrant freshness and complexity, still awaiting those tertiary aromas. Thank you, Harsányi Pincészet for the invitation—hope to see you next year!😍 Have you participated in any harvest festivals this year? How did you like it? ⬇️ #harsanyipinceszet #dulobisztro #harvest #organic #winery #harvestvibes #tokajwinery #tokajwinetasting #tokaj #tokaj #grapeharvest #harsanyiszuret #winegrapes #muscat #lateharvest #whitewinelover #sweetwine #furmint #harslevelu #winerytrip #winemarketing #digitalmarketing

SEKT TIME!🍾 Do you know what Sekt is? ⬇️ 👉 In German-speaking countries, Sekt refers to sparkling wines, especially when you're talking with novice wine lovers from those regions or even neighboring ones. ☝️However, when discussing specific countries in this region, for a sparkling wine to be called Sekt, there's much more that goes into it. Let’s talk about Austrian Sekt! ❗️Sekt Austria is a protected origin classification with three tiers and strict rules: ✔️Sekt Austria, ✔️Sekt Austria Reserve, and ✔️Sekt Austria Große Reserve. 👌I explained all three tiers in our latest IG Live with Giovanna Vaschetto but today I want to highlight this Brut Rosé Reserve by Weingut Loimer Fred Loimer from that tasting.⬇️ 🥂 This wine holds the ✔️Sekt Austria Reserve classification with very high standards. It is a blend of 60% Zweigelt, 30% Pinot Noir, and 10% St. Laurent from the vineyards of Langenlois and Gumpoldskirchen. 🌿 It’s an organic and biodynamic wine, made using the traditional method. It primarily contains the 2020 vintage (70%) and the 2019 vintage,🍇 with a small amount of reserve wines dating back to 2011. This particular bottle was sealed with the lees in September 2021 and was disgorged in December 2023.🍾 👌 That extended time on the lees gave this sparkling rosé its beautiful buttery, brioche-like flavors, while the Zweigelt🍇 and St. Laurent🍇 provide sweet cooking spices, plums, and raspberry. The Pinot Noir🍇 adds fine structure, high acidity, and a never-ending finish with a fine perlage.🥂 ☝️I highly recommend this Sekt Rosé with pasta in tomato sauce, salads, or a shrimp cocktail. It’s a very food-friendly sparkling wine. It was a true gem and one of my favorite wine crushes this summer season! 😍 🍾 Have you tried Sekt before?🥂 - Like my content? 2009 VS. 2011 – AGEING POTENTIAL IN BURGENLAND 🍷Is it worth the wait? ⬇️ ☝️Spoiler alert: Yes! But there’s more to this tale. A couple of weeks ago, I had the chance to attend a tasting featuring 12 wines from two legendary vintages from this iconic red wine region in Austria. We experienced firsthand how these wines taste after more than a decade of ageing. Out of the 12 examples, I selected my top 8 favorites (4 from each vintage) for my latest blog article:⬇️ 🍇 Prickler – Blaufränkisch Grande Reserve V-MAX 🍇 Weingut Gesellmann GmbH – Blaufränkisch Hochberc 🍇 K+K Kirnbauer – Das Phantom 🍇 Weingut Hans Igler – Ab Ericio 🍇Eichenwald Weine – Blaufränkisch Ried Dürrau 🍇 WEINGUT JULIANA WIEDER GMBH – Blaufränkisch Mittelburgenland DAC Reserve 🍇 WeingutErnst – La Mission 🍇 Weingut Heinrich – Elegy 👉 In the article, I’ve included my personal tasting notes for each of these wines, along with a description of the 2009 and 2011 vintages and why they were exceptional. And of course, I reveal which wine was my winner of this tasting! 🏆 ❗️Take a look and read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/dx84gTXq Have you ever tried older vintages, whether from Burgenland or elsewhere? ANOTHER GRAPE TO LOOK OUT FOR IN AUSTRIA! White wine lovers, pay attention! Austrian white wines are not just about Grüner Veltliner and Riesling, and let me prove it to you...⬇️ Last week, I visited the Wein Steiermark tasting in Vienna, and while this region is famous for its Sauvignon Blancs🍇, I got interested in something else. ☝️Weißburgunder, or as you may know it, Pinot Blanc, accounts for a third of the plantings in Styria, just as in Lower Austria. This is the youngest member of the Pinot family, a mutation of Pinot Gris, all originating from the noble red grape, Pinot Noir.🍇 🤔 Why might you want to try these wines from Steiermark, and why am I so fascinated by them? Because, for me, they blend the beautiful structure and versatility of Chardonnay with the spicy, floral character of Grüner Veltliner. At this tasting, I had the pleasure of enjoying Weißburgunders in various styles ➡️ crisp, citrusy, and light; medium-bodied, mineral, and floral with a white peppery spiciness; and full-bodied, creamy versions with honeyed notes and a more golden color.🍷 These were my favorite Weißburgunders from the tasting⬇️ ▪️Ried Oberewitsch 2021 by Weingut Regele ▪️Ried Trebien 2022 by Weingut Albert ▪️Ried Grassnitzberg 2022 by Erzherzog Johann Weine ▪️Ried Saziani 2021 by Erzherzog Johann Weine ▪️Ried Wiesberg 2020 by Weingut Schulter 💁♀️I couldn't leave without tasting some Sauvignons and Chardonnays as well. You can find two in the photos that I liked the most.👌 👉 Styria is most famous for its white wines, and I can definitely see why. This Pinot Blanc selection was on with the other top white varieties. Have you tried a Weißburgunder before?🍷 #austrianwine #weinsteiermark #weißburgunder #weissburgunder #weißwein #weinausösterreich #winetips #winerecommendation #winelovers #fehérbor #pinotblanc #winemarketing #winetasting #wine #whitewine #winecommunication

THE SPARKLING WINE BATTLE🍇✨: ITALY VS. AUSTRIA ⬇️ 😍 On Saturday, we went live with Giovanna Vaschetto from @gios_wine_journal and talked about sparkling wines from Italy and Austria. She shared interesting facts and wines from an up-and-coming DOCG in Piedmont, Alta Langa. I was tasting and talking about the different styles and classifications of Austrian Sekt production. NEW FURMINT IN TOWN! 🍷Not your usual crispy and light style, but that's what makes it interesting! Do you want to know more? ⬇️ MM55 by MA‘D MOSER TOKAJ is a dry Furmint🍇 from a special project between Rita Takaro DipWSET an ambassador of Tokaj wines in Austria, Lenz Moser a 15th-generation Austrian winemaker, Karoly, the owner of Mád Wine in Tokaj, and their winemaker, Gabor. ☝️The project's goal is to reinvent Furmint 🍇 and the wines of Tokaj for the international market, creating something new. As my aim with this account is to get Hungarian wines known abroad, I resonate with this message and was excited to try this wine. Let me tell you, it doesn't disappoint!⬇️ 👉 A unique concept of blending the best single vineyards in the region (Nyulászó, St. Tamás, and Király), then fermenting and aging the wine in 300-liter Hungarian oak barrels. This recipe guarantees that if you smell the wine, you can already realize you have something special in your glass.🍷 ➡️ A complex and intense aroma of stone fruits, brioche, oranges, vanilla, and butter with saline undertones. The palate is balanced and elegant with high acidity and complexity, featuring the same buttery, vanilla, stone fruit character, and a very long finish with a salty aftertaste. 👌An excellent quality wine. This is the 2021 vintage that will surely mature beautifully in the future. A very gastronomic wine🍷, it would pair perfectly with creamy chicken or fish dishes, cassolette, and cheese boards. That's a Furmint🍇 I could drink for the rest of my life without regrets, but life is too short...🤷♀️🤗 Which style of Furmint do you prefer? The lighter, crispier ones or these more serious, oaky styles? ⬇️ - Like my content? Interested in joining forces and getting your wine in front of my audience? Reach out! 🍇 GRAPE TALK: EPISODE 28: Blaufränkisch. 🍷 This deep-blue-skinned grape is a star in Austria and Hungary, let's see why...⬇️ 1️⃣ Blaufränkisch, also known as Kékfrankos🍇, is a grape with a mysterious origin, tracing back to the Carpathian Basin. Its lineage includes Gouais blanc and Gamay, making it a fascinating cross of Blauer Zimmettraube and Weißer Heunisch. 2️⃣ Known for its deep-blue skins, Blaufränkisch produces wines🍷 that are vibrant, fruity, and spicy. Typical aromas include notes of strawberry and cherry, while the flavors often reveal a delightful mix of spice and fruit. It’s a versatile grape that can create everything from light, refreshing wines to more robust and complex bottles.🍾 3️⃣ In the vineyard, Blaufränkisch is resilient and thrives in various climates, adapting well to different soils.🌿 This adaptability has helped it gain popularity across Europe and beyond. Its ability to develop rich flavors while maintaining good acidity makes it a favorite among winemakers.
