I'm beyond thrilled to announce that I am the recipient of the 2025 ECS - The Electrochemical Society #Battery Division M. Stanley Whittingham Mid-Career Award ! This great honor is a testament to the collaborative efforts with my students, postdocs, and collaborators throughout my 22-year career. I am profoundly grateful to ECS for these great news, and for the support of my amazing wife, family, friends and colleagues. Electric mobility region Upper Austria; an event hosted at BMW Group Steyr. 👍 Organized by the Automotive Cluster, several Tier 1 suppliers and automotive players gathered in Steyr. ✔️ Remarkable developments e.g. by Miba Battery Systems together with Rosenbauer Group, or at BMW Group Steyr where 4500+ people produce 1 million+ motors per year (soon also e-motors; see the public-picture of the e-motor frame). 👉 Keysight Technologies (Keysight Labs Austria) is contributing with advanced #battery tests, for example in research projects with Miba Battery Systems and PROFACTOR; and with BMW Group we published on battery test accuracy (see picture). ✔️ Thanks to the impressive factory tour at BMW Steyr (and the nice presentations from Klaus von Moltke, CEO); and to the automotive cluster (Florian DANMAYR), as well as the local government of Upper Austria (Markus Achleitner) for organizing/supporting this nice event! #batterytest #software #AI #manufacturing #digital

At the Agile Battery Production Opening at KIT

Tour at the agile battery production at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). 👍 Thanks for the invite from KIT to join the project closure of AgiloBat and Batterie 4.0, in the frame of ‘Intelligente Batteriezellproduktion’. ✔️ The KIT Forschunsfabrik has done an incredibly good job in making battery production ‘agile’, which means the production can be changed easily in a modular frame allowing different battery form-factors or different chemistries. ✔️ Great presentations from the chair of the project, Prof. J. Fleischer and the full AgiloBat team, as well as guest speakers, e.g. from CustomCells . The tour through the 'Forschungsfabrik' was super interesting highlighting the different modules for cell production, also covering digital twins and product data tracing. 👍 There is a lot of learning and inspiration from this project for our DigiCell Project (an EU funded project that I am coordinating together with Dr. Nawfal Al-Zubaidi Smith) and Keysight Technologies. Walking through the city showed nice spots like the castle and other monuments, interesting. #AI #digitaltwin #software #bigdata #production

This week, Luca Belforte from Centro Ricerche Fiat CRF and Roberto Colombo and Giorgio Montinaro from Politecnico di Torino met 🤝 to prepare #samples of innovative 🔋 #battery materials that will be sent to Università degli studi Roma TRE for advanced #nanomechanical #analysis. The materials under study are Lithium-Sulphur #electrodes and LNMO electrodes with water-based binders. Both are technologies that can make batteries more #efficient and #environmental friendly. 🌳 #sustainableenergy #energy #batteriesofthefuture #sustainablefuture
