About us

Our mission is to inspire and develop young people in an air and space environment to achieve and maximise their potential to contribute to Australia’s future success. 4 Wing encompasses the Victorian AAFC experience, with units located throughout the Australian state of Victoria. The aim of the Australian Defence Force Cadets, which includes the AAFC, is “By predominantly voluntary effort, to better equip young people for community life by fostering initiatives, leadership, discipline and loyalty through training programs which are also designed to stimulate an interest in a particular arm of the Defence Force." We can proudly say that all of our volunteers and staff undergo yearly Youth Mental Health Awareness Training and have regular opportunities to complete accredited Youth Mental Health First Aid Training. We believe in creating a safe environment where anyone can have a conversation and feel supported, because Mental Health Matters. We want all of our youth and volunteer to know that If you ever need support, don’t hesitate to reach out to a friend, staff member, or a trusted peer.     AFL Grand final day I helped out 410SQN from 4 Wing Australian Air Force Cadets raised money for the flight simulator they are building from an old Piper Aircraft frame. This project is not just for those cadets wanting to learn to fly but also for those that want to learn about maintenance. It's an exciting project which I am proud to be involved with😃 Well done to the team who sold over 430 sausages in bread! Also a big thank you to Bunnings Epsom for the opportunity and also thanks for the generous donations of bread from Brumbys Bakery in Epsom and Bendigo Ground Airport Services whom provided the sausages 👏👏

  • // Celebrating our volunteers // This week, we celebrate FLTLT(AAFC) Bree Neve's 20th year serving our Cadets, Staff and the Community. Bree joined the Australian Air Force Cadets as a uniformed staff member in 2004, having previously been a Cadet for 7 years. She has held roles at 418 SQN Tyabb, 406 SQN Frankston, as the Duke of Ed Coordinator for 4WG, helped to revamp the 4WG Drill Competition and she is currently serving as the Commanding Officer of 406 SQN Frankston.   • Congratulations to our 4 WING team for taking out the win at the Australian Air Force Cadets National Rifle Competition 2024 !

    NATIONAL RIFLE COMPETITION // PART 1 The Australian Air Force Cadets National Rifle Competition 2024 (NRC24) was successfully conducted at RAAF Base Amberley on Saturday 14 September, with 32 Cadets representing all 8 Wings competing in both deliberate and snap practices, using the BRNO CZ452 .22 calibre rifle. Each year, the Team which scores the highest aggregate score is awarded the "GPCAPT(AAFC) Colin Palmer Trophy." 💥 The results are in...a big congratulations to: 1st – 4 Wing, with 2,120 points out of 2,400 (winning team for NRC24) 2nd – 6 Wing, with 2,093 points 3rd – 7 Wing, with 2,074 points 4th – 1 Wing, with 2043 points 5th – 2 Wing, with 2019 points 6th – 3 Wing, with 1945 points 7th – 8 Wing with 1548 points 8th – 5 Wing with 1390 points 📣 Stay tuned for more images and updates from our NRC24! 🇦🇺 www.airforcecadets.gov.au #AirForceCadets #NationalRifleCompetition
