It’s time to review and commit to building safe and healthy workplaces for all Australians as we focus on Week 3 of National Safe Work Month: Risk Management Fundamentals. The Australian Flexible Pavement Association (AfPA) is committed to advancing risk management education through specialised courses designed to improve safety in the industry. Key awareness courses such as "Be Bitumen Safe," "Worker on Foot," and "Respirable Crystalline Silica" focus on critical safety concerns. The "Working Safely with Bitumen" course provides targeted training for handling bitumen-related risks. Australian Flexible Pavement Association (#AfPA) & Traffic Management Association of Australia (TMAA) Management Association of Australia (TMAA) are collaborating to deliver the QLD Safety Forum 2024 which recognises in the dynamic landscape of flexible pavement maintenance and construction work, ensuring the safety of both road workers and the communities they serve is paramount. Both at a National and State level, the need has been identified to facilitate a cross-industry exchange and collaboration between subject matter experts, practitioners and participants from across industry and all levels of Government, to identify the issues impacting road worker and road user safety. This Forum focuses on key specific areas: • Separation of People and Traffic, and • Separation of People and Plant. These two areas are to be drawn together at days end session targeting the current IR health and safety regulations, safework requirements and psychosocial hazards and risks.
