RPAS BVLOS Opportunity Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) has released an Expression of Interest (EOI) for organisations to participate in an RPAS BVLOS trial project. FRV has initiated a project to study the possible utilisation of Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) in Beyond-Visual-Line-Of-Sight (BVLOS) situations, to support the management of fire, rescue and other emergency incidents. The project includes a major, one-off operational trial where it is planned that RPAS will be deployed BVLOS to simulated emergency incidents. It is planned that the outcomes of the operational trial will, ultimately:  guide the development and implementation of practices and procedures to underpin and facilitate safe and effective use of BVLOS RPAS to support the management of actual fire, rescue and emergency events; and  inform future decisions regarding the selection and utilisation of RPAS capabilities to support the management of actual fire, rescue and emergency events in the future. AAUS would like to thank presenters and over 200 delegates of its "Autonomy in the Joint Military Battlespace" conference at #landforces2024 for some informative discussion over the past 2 days. Some takeaways from the conference: - The event was well supported by Defence (Army, Air Force, CASG, ASCA and UA Army Applications Laboratory) and industry. - The Australian uncrewed systems capability is undeniably strong and getting stronger. - Military strategy continues to evolve towards "smart, small and many" use of drones. - Defence and Industry continue to be challenged on appropriate procurement and industry investment strategy. - SME Industry needs to make sure that its uncrewed products are diversified across commercial and defence applications. The Australian Association for Uncrewed Systems has opened the call for papers for its SkyTech 2025: Exploring the Future of Uncrewed Flight conference at Avalon 2025 Date: March 24th - 25th 2025 Venue: March 24 (RACV Club, Melbourne) and March 25 (Avalon) AAUS invites abstracts from individuals or organisations interested in presenting at next year's conference. Abstracts must include a presentation title and address one or more of the conference themes: • Exploring the future of uncrewed flight in Australia • Showcasing the rise and trajectory of drones and advanced air mobility • Enabling technologies • Potential to disrupt sectors such as defence.
