Last week, we were so excited to have Dr Natasha Tile visit our Casuarina Laundry and share stories about her Camino de Santiago adventure, raising money for the Remote Laundries project. To date, Natasha has raised $26,400, completely smashing her target of $20k. Not only has Tash raised vital funds for the project, but she’s also done an incredible job spreading the word about the wonderful service Remote Laundries provides here in the NT. We can’t thank Tash enough. 💪 The campaign has been so incredibly supported, and there is still time to donate, with Natasha’s campaign set to finish at the end of this week https://lnkd.in/gucamYxp

CSIRO PARTNERS WITH AIG Our business model focuses on developing strong and positive partnerships with nationally recognised experts, enabling AIG to deliver more for the 7 northern regions of the NT. Following the development of the Remote Laundries project Social Impact Framework, CSIRO has partnered with AIG for its implementation by co-designing the Evaluation Framework. Operationalisation of the Evaluation Framework will provide evidence of the effectiveness and scalability of the unique Remote Laundries Project. This will inform decision-making for policymakers, health and social care providers, and other key stakeholders about the allocation of resources for this activity aimed at addressing the social determinants of health. As part of this project, CSIRO’s Professor Ray Mahoney and Dr Sophie Wright-Pedersen recently visited our new Gunbalanya Remote Laundries, allowing us to explore further opportunities for innovative partnerships. We love seeing our business support clients kick goals, and Indigenous-owned Mick's Cranes' recent acquisition in partnership with Tutt Bryant of their first big rig is a big one to celebrate. AIG’s COO, Kerry-Ann Plant, has been working with Mick and Kate throughout the year, providing strategic and business planning. We’re excited to continue supporting these magnificent humans as they move through their first year of operation. Read their recent Katherine Times article here https://lnkd.in/gnihdMq2

RUN COMPLETE! 💪 🏃♀️ We are in utter disbelief; not only has Natasha Tile smashed her target of running 18 marathons in 18 days unsupported (she did it in 13 days!), but the legends who donated to her campaign have helped smash her fundraising target with just over $25k in donations received to date for the Remote Laundries project! The campaign remains open for donations - https://lnkd.in/gucamYxp Heart Foundation Take Heart: Deadly Heart #rhd #scabies #remotelaundries

RUNNING FOR THE LAUNDRIES 💪 Starting in one week, this legend will attempt to run 18 marathons in 18 days unsupported (800 km) from France to Spain along the Camino de Santiago (Francès) to raise money for the Remote Laundries project Natasha Tile, a doctor based in Darwin, has seen first-hand the devastating effect scabies and rheumatic heart disease have on remote communities. The cause is even more personal as she plays football for the Arnhem Crows, a team based in Barunga, where the first Remote Laundry was launched, with clear and drastic impacts on reducing scabies since its inception. Natasha aims to raise $20,000 for the Remote Laundries project to help us reach more communities. We think she is incredible before she even commences her challenge. Every dollar counts. NEW LAUNDRY LAUNCHED! The West Arnhem community of Gunbalanya was in a spin today as the latest Remote Laundries project was launched. The partnership between Aboriginal Investment Group (AIG), and Adjumarllarl Aboriginal Corporation will provide a free laundry service to the Gunbalanya community while creating employment opportunities for locals. Independent AIG Board Director Lachlan McKenzie and Adjumarllarl Aboriginal Corporation Stronger Communities for Children Coordinator said the community is excited about the laundry's arrival and its impact on health and economic outcomes. “Developed by the board of AIG six years ago, the Remote Laundries Project is a known and trusted solution to combat the burden of disease in remote communities while creating jobs,” Mr McKenzie said. AIG now operates five laundries in the NT: Darwin, Milyakburra, Angurugu, Barunga and Gunbalanya, with Borroloola, Nauiyu and Umbakumba next in line.
