Today we honour the memory of Daniel Morcombe. 🎈 About 90 people joined the first Walk for Daniel back in 2005 and today, on the 20th Day for Daniel, more than 2 million people will take part in activities across Australia. Under the guidance of Bruce and Denise Morcombe, our friends at Daniel Morcombe Foundation Inc. should be incredibly proud of their achievements in teaching kids how to protect themselves in physical and online environments. Together, we must educate our kids to keep them safe. ❤️ You can find parent resources here: https://lnkd.in/gHBZQHnq #DayforDaniel #childsafety #ActforKids #childprotection 📷: Images from this morning's Walk for Daniel on the Sunshine Coast.

We help keep kids safe, heal from trauma and lead happy lives.
About us
Act for Kids is an Australian charity with a purpose to keep kids safe, heal from trauma and lead happy lives. We provide professional therapy and support services to children and young people who have experienced abuse or neglect, and early support for families at risk. Act for Kids has helped thousands of children and families since it was established in 1988. Our multidisciplinary teams provide intensive therapy, sexual abuse counselling, safe houses in remote Indigenous communities, youth mentoring, family coaches and a preschool designed for abused and neglected children with additional developmental needs to ensure they are set up for success at school. All of these services are provided free of charge to clients. While Act for Kids receives some government funding, it heavily relies on donations and fundraising for expansion and development of its services to reach more children and families in need. Act for Kids is proud to be an Inclusive Employer 2023-2024. This achievement recognises our active commitment to inclusion and that Act for Kids is above the Australian workforce average in the Diversity Council Australia Ltd's Inclusion@Work Index. We were thrilled to welcome Auto & General Australia to Act for Kids’ Moreton Centre this week. Thank you Auto & General Australia - your dedicated support means the world. ❤️🙏
This week, our Board members visited the Act for Kids Moreton Centre in Queensland. It was an opportunity to meet with Act for Kids Board members and staff and hear about the inspiring story behind the Moreton Centre’s creation and the Safe Families program. This impactful program provides a child-centred, whole-family approach to engage families experiencing domestic and family violence with safe, responsible and respectful practice. A&G has been a proud partner of Act for Kids since 2008, contributing through donations, volunteer time and in-kind support. Together, we’re committed to helping create safer, stronger futures for children and families. #autogeneral #community #actforkids

This Anti-Poverty Week (October 13-19), we’re shining a light on the devastating impact of Australia’s cost-of-living crisis on children. A new survey of almost 1,000 Australians, commissioned by Act for Kids, reveals alarming statistics - 43% of families surveyed were struggling to afford healthcare, and nearly one in three households were battling to provide basic educational needs for their children. The strain is pushing families to breaking point, making it harder to create safe, stable environments for kids. Every child deserves a brighter future. Act for Kids is urging all Australians to join the new campaign to end child poverty and take action by signing the pledge and petition.
