Today we honour the memory of Daniel Morcombe. 🎈 About 90 people joined the first Walk for Daniel back in 2005 and today, on the 20th Day for Daniel, more than 2 million people will take part in activities across Australia. Under the guidance of Bruce and Denise Morcombe, our friends at Daniel Morcombe Foundation Inc. should be incredibly proud of their achievements in teaching kids how to protect themselves in physical and online environments. This Anti-Poverty Week (October 13-19), we’re shining a light on the devastating impact of Australia’s cost-of-living crisis on children. A new survey of almost 1,000 Australians, commissioned by Act for Kids, reveals alarming statistics - 43% of families surveyed were struggling to afford healthcare, and nearly one in three households were battling to provide basic educational needs for their children. The strain is pushing families to breaking point, making it harder to create safe, stable environments for kids. Every child deserves a brighter future. Dr Katrina Lines welcomed Wade Krueger from Krueger Consultancy Services - KCS this week to kickstart the development of our second Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). Wade brings a unique and expert perspective from his Ma:Mu and Gooreng Gooreng background, and alongside his team, will help deepen our cultural understanding and guide us through this important reconciliation process. At Act for Kids our RAP is more than a strategic document - it’s our pledge to actively contribute to reconciliation by fostering understanding, respect, and collaboration, turning intention into action. 💛
