Meet Kayla Waller, an #Australian #Softball player we are mentoring on her way to fulfilling her #Olympic dream. I first met Kayla at the launch of the Aussie Athlete Fund in Brisbane a short time ago. He story is inspiring and we have committed to assist her to her first financial goal of raising $10K towards her #Olympic Journey. We will be sharing more of Kayla's story over the next few months including updates of her journey. It surprised me how little our athletes receive by way of funding towards the #Olympics or #Paralympics and so we became a mentor for the program. Throughout 2023, I was involved in #TheSearch with #GridironAustralia, a program that aimed to identify athletes from other sports and see what transferable skills could be used in #flagfootball. AFS Group provided medics, logistics and specialist support across Australia, and the results were almost immediate. Aussie kids were offered scholarships to US schools within 48 hours of attending combines. Following this, I was asked to coach a women's #flagfootball invitational team for #GridironAustralia in a national competition that included teams from far, far eastern Australia (New Zealand). With the announcement of #flagfootball being included in #la28 #olympics, Australia will be very competitive, having Wade Kelly and Liam Matthew Price at the helm.
