It’s fantastic to see many of the innovators and attendees at our 2024 GRDC GroundUp Showcase Day featured in Grain Central’s coverage of the event. Wow, what an epic 2024 GRDC GroundUp Showcase Day! The biggest event on our annual calendar didn’t disappoint, with more than 150 people converging at the Agtech and Logistics Hub to discover a raft of incredible solutions for the grains sector, from AI-powered tech to alternatives for traditional synthetic inputs. Today’s event was the culmination of our GroundUp accelerator, supported by Grains Research and Development Corporation, with participants from all over the country showcasing their innovations alongside exhibitors with technologies to complement the Australian grains sector. A compelling alternative to traditional synthetic chemicals 🌾 Introducing Bio10, one of the innovators in our 2024 GRDC GroundUp program. Bio10 has developed a new rapid compost system that can reformulate solid and agricultural waste into fertiliser in less than five days. Specifically, the startup is harnessing advanced biological processes and enzyme technologies to accelerate waste decomposition and enhance nutrient retention, reducing waste to high value compost which, with certain inputs, can be processed to produce pelleted fertiliser. Founded in 2019 with a team of specialists in aquaculture, biotechnology and industrial engineering, Bio10 is also focusing on another major challenge in the agricultural sector – growing pesticide resistance. Combining natural ingredients with the latest nano technology, the company has created a range of compelling alternatives to synthetic pesticides that repel large and small pests with a single-treatment solution including mealy bugs, spider mites, russet mites, aphids and caterpillars. Circular biofuel solution aims to fuel cost savings for farmers 🌾 ⛽ 🚜 Introducing Seed 2 Diesel, an innovator involved in our 2024 GRDC GroundUp program that is committed to enabling oilseed growers to turn their own crops into fuel. It’s an innovative concept that would see oilseed collected from growers and then extracted, cleaned and processed into biodiesel, and later returned to the grower for use in their agricultural equipment. The protein-rich byproduct, oilseed meal, could then be on-sold as a food source for livestock producers on a grower’s behalf. Seed 2 Diesel founder Johnny Wapstra says the aim is to make farmers self-sufficient for fuel by processing the oilseeds they already grow, which will result in substantial cost savings. Seed 2 Diesel is aiming to build a demonstration facility that can produce 360,000 litres of biodiesel per year in the Darling Downs. Repurposing agricultural waste for fuels and fertilisers 🌾 ⛽    Introducing MADE Australia, an innovator in our 2024 GRDC GroundUp Program that is tapping underutilised tech to help farmers convert agricultural waste into cheap fuel and fertiliser.    MADE is using novel anaerobic digestion technology to produce biofertilisers and biofuels and develop a scalable ‘biohub’, designed to improve farmers’ yields and profitability without relying on synthetic fuels and fertilisers.      The Victorian agritech company’s ultimate goal is for every agricultural community in Australia to have a MADE Biohub – a novel anaerobic digestion technology embedded within a circular bioeconomy where agricultural waste is repurposed to create a reliable, more affordable and zero emissions local supply of biofertilisers and biofuels.     You can find out more about MADE by visiting their website or coming along to our 2024 GRDC GroundUp Showcase Day on August 29.     Register now: https://lnkd.in/g53hnRjE    #GroundUp #Agtech #Grains #Accelerator
