Today marks the start of National Safe Work Month 2024! Held annually in October and led by Safe Work Australia, National Safe Work Month encourages everyone—individuals and organisations alike—to prioritise work health and safety (WHS). The focus is on taking proactive steps to reduce workplace injuries, illnesses, and fatalities. The campaign promotes a positive safety culture, emphasising the importance of strong WHS practices. Each year, the month revolves around a unique theme, and this year’s theme, “Safety is everyone’s business,” encourages workplaces across the nation to make safety a priority. It highlights the collective benefits of safe work practices, reinforcing WHS as a fundamental principle and right for all. Weekly topics: Each week focuses on a specific WHS topic: • Week 1: WHS Fundamentals • Week 2: Psychosocial Hazards • Week 3: Risk Management Fundamentals • Week 4: Musculoskeletal Injuries Week 1: WHS Fundamentals We kick off by revisiting the basics of good WHS practices. These include proactively managing risks, genuine consultation with workers, and providing proper training and support to keep everyone safe. Richard's story is just one example of the life-changing impact of the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys Dream, Believe, Achieve program. We're so proud to provide the training for this program, that empowers individuals to reach their full potential. Congratulations to all the graduates 👏

“𝗜 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗴𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘂𝗽 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗜 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺, 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲, 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗜 𝗴𝗼𝘁 𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻.” Richard O’Brien | Graduate Congratulations to our first two cohorts of Dream, Believe, Achieve graduates for 2024 whose achievements were recognised at a special ceremony at Cowboys Headquarters. Most, like Richard, have overcome many challenges to complete an intense 10-week course and attain a Certificate 3 in Hospitality. Thank you to our training partner Allara Learning, our wonderful hospitality industry partners including The Ville Resort-Casino and Cowboys Leagues Club, the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training for funding the program through its Skilling Queenslanders for Work program, and of course, our students, whose dedication and determination to learn and grow inspires us. Graduates are now job-ready, many already in steady employment, and thanks to LiteHaus International each received their own new laptop to continue their career and education journeys.

We are so proud to be part of this great initiative! Congrats to North Queensland Toyota Cowboys and Taylor Brunton on being recognised as a finalist for Community Training Initiative of the Year 👏

We're proud that our Dream, Believe, Achieve training and employment program was recognised as a finalist for Training Initiative of the Year at the North Queensland regional finals of the 2024 Queensland Training Awards held at the weekend. While we didn't take out the category, we felt like we shared in the successes of our program supporters.... Congratulations to the Cowboys Leagues Club (Medium Employer of the Year) and The Ville Resort-Casino (Large Employer of the Year) both of which are valued industry partners of our DBA program. And, well done to Rebecca Hoffensetz who supports our program participants completing their work experience at The Ville, who was recognised as VET Teacher or Trainer of the Year. Since 2015 we have helped more than 700 participants to achieve their Certificate III in Hospitality delivered by Allara Learning and funded by the Queensland Government through its Skilling Queenslanders for Work initiative.

We recently celebrated with the graduates, from the first semester of the OzHarvest Nourish program in Sydney and Newcastle! We are so proud to partner with OzHarvest on this life-changing initiative. Allara Learning's Sydney-based trainer, Christopher Davies said, "The Nourish program provides young people with essential skills and training in hospitality, setting them up for a brighter future. The student’s dedication and hard work was evident, it was truly inspiring to see how much they had all grown, and to see firsthand the positive impact this program has had on the lives of the students." The sentiment was echoed by Elizabeth Blyth our Newcastle-based trainer, who said, "OzHarvest is so much more than food rescue! The Nourish program is about empowerment, opportunity, and building a brighter future for the students. On top of the skills they learnt throughout the course, the students come away with friendship, mentoring, confidence and presentation skills that open up so many opportunities for them. I'm so honoured to be part of Nourish and to see the impact of this program on their lives." A huge thank you to the entire OzHarvest Nourish team, especially Ronni Kahn AO, for her unwavering passion. We're excited to see what these graduates achieve next and look forward to continuing our partnership with OzHarvest, to make a real difference in our community.
