⚖️ Is AI-generated content yours? 🤔 Think you own what you create using AI tools like ChatGPT? Think again! 🛑 Something overlooked by most is that in the U.S. and other Western countries, courts have ruled that AI-generated content cannot be copyrighted by the prompter. Everything AI creates is considered public domain! This has serious implications. AI to write your research paper? NOPE ❌ AI to write your thesis? NOPE ❌ AI to write your book? NOPE ❌ 🎥 Watch this video snippet taken from my ethical AI workshop to learn more about the copyright implications of AI-generated content and how it affects researchers. Want to avoid these AI pitfalls and learn how to use AI effectively? Click the link under my name to learn about my next AI online workshop coming up on Nov 20th.

⚖️ Is AI racist? Here’s what you should know! 🤔 I asked an AI to create an image of a researcher… and guess what? They all came out white. Why? 🤨 AI isn’t racist, but it does reflect the biases in the data it’s trained on. That’s why it often shows a stereotypical image of a scientist—a white, older man with crazy hair like Einstein. In this excerpt from my workshop I show some striking example of racial bias in AI images including some you really won’t expect… Want to avoid these pitfalls and learn how to use AI effectively? Type “interested” in the comments., and I’ll add you to an expression of interest list for my next AI online workshop, coming up on November 20th. Have you experienced any kind of bias in AI images or text? Share below - I am interested in your feedback.

Ever wanted to ask questions about an entire body of knowledge? Notebook LM by Google lets you chat with any number of papers or web pages and create a podcast about them with a single click! I took it for a test drive and after uploading my PhD papers I could ❔ Ask any question about them. ✅ Get referenced answers. 🧠 Ask for a summary. 👨🔬 Ask for knowledge gaps to formulate new research questions 🎙️ Turn the whole thing into a podcast 🤯 Check out this clip to hear it in action! It’s unreal! What impressed me the most ✅ Everything was accurate (no hallucinations) 📖 The potential to use this for literature reviews is huge 👌 The quality of the podcast is jaw dropping The AI co-hosts voices are so damn good that I I didn’t know this was AI generated I would have struggled to figure it out myself. Want to learn how to use this and many other AI tools effectively and ethically? Type “interested” in the comments. I’ll add you to an expression of interest list for my next AI online workshop coming up in November (where this clip was taken from). Have you tried Notebook LM? What would you use it for?

Thought AI would make your research a breeze? Well, it can... if you don’t fall into one of these career-ruining traps! 💥 AI is a game-changer, but it comes with a side of potential disaster if you’re not careful. We’re talking copyright chaos, privacy nightmares, and more. Don't let AI turn from your research sidekick into your academic arch-nemesis! 🎨 AI and Science Illustrators: A Collaboration for the Future 🤝💡 Here’s the bottom line: AI isn’t going to replace scientific illustrators. But it can enhance what they do! The future isn’t about writing a prompt and letting AI take over. Where’s the fun (or ownership) in that? 🎨✏️ What sets science illustrators apart isn’t just their creative flair—it’s precision, clarity, and an in-depth understanding of the subject matter. 🧠 These are things AI just can't master. What’s more exciting? Co-creating with AI! Tools like KREA AI let you combine your sketches with prompts to produce something truly unique. It’s a collaborative process, and though it’s not perfect (AI still struggles with fine details), this partnership could lead to some amazing outcomes. 🚀 Let’s embrace this new wave of creativity—working with AI, not against it.

🎓 Flashback to my PhD days! 🎓 I was lucky enough to receive media training during my PhD, and it opened many doors to traditional media—think newspapers and radio. It gave me the platform to share my research far and wide. But I was one of the lucky few… most PhD students don’t get this kind of training 😕. That’s why Alicia Cintron, PhD’s article is a must-read for researchers. If you want to get your research out there, this is the next best thing! 🎤📢 Read her tips here 👇 https://lnkd.in/gk-gwYxd

AI art is impressive—until... you ask the models to create something more intricate, like a DNA double helix. That's where things start to fall apart… The problem? 𝑨𝑰 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔𝒏'𝒕 𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒊𝒕'𝒔 𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈. It pulls from reference images, approximating shapes and structures. This can result in stunning visuals, sure, but when you look closer, they often reveal many flaws. For example, that beautiful DNA helix? 👀 A closer inspection might reveal some glaring inaccuracies. And that’s dangerous. If someone without the right expertise can't tell the difference, it risks spreading misinformation. Let’s use AI as a powerful 𝒕𝒐𝒐𝒍—but with caution. It’s not a replacement for real knowledge and expertise!

𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗯𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗜 𝗮𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼? 🤔 This is one of the key mental shifts we explored during yesterday’s workshop, 𝘎𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘈𝘐 𝘪𝘯 𝘈𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯: 𝘏𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘰𝘯 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘴, and I must say, the response was incredible! 🙌 I’m truly humbled to have had over 240 students and researchers from all over Italy in attendance. A special thank you to Alain, Giulia and the entire Ecosister & Art-ER team for the invitation and support—it is really fun to collaborate with you. Like many, AI used to intimidate me. I honestly thought that it was going to destroy my business! But through time, I’ve learned to embrace it, appreciate its strengths, and—perhaps even more importantly—understand its limitations. AI is here to enhance our creativity, not replace it. 💻🚀 So, have you received any training in AI yet? If not, now’s the time! Reach out—I’d love to bring this workshop to your institution and help your researchers catch up on this powerful technology.
