Continuous efforts by the government to promote Malaysia's Halal certification globally have resulted in 88 foreign halal certification bodies being recognised by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM). Based on statistics as of May, it covers 49 countries, including China, South Korea and Japan.

Speaking this morning on "the halal compliant port: the missing link in a halal supply chain". About 80% of international trade (in volume) goes via sea, about 34% of international trade (in value) goes via air. The halal integrity of imports into OIC countries should be a concern for Muslim (majority) countries. With law 33, Indonesia is the first country that makes a halal supply chain mandatory (food by October 2024, cosmetics by 2026, and pharmaceuticals by 2026 onwards). There was a big announcement at this halal logistics seminar in Bandung (Indonesia) today....
