The APNA Workforce Survey 2024 is now open! We want to hear from as many nurses and midwives working outside the four walls of a hospital and in the community as possible. The more of you working in primary health care who complete the survey, the more powerful a tool for change it becomes. Assistant Minister for Health and Aged Care (and former registered nurse) Ged Kearney knows how important it is—she's recorded a support message backing our campaign to make the 2024 survey our biggest yet! Complete the survey by 31 December to win one of two $1000 Red Balloon vouchers or ten $100 cash cards. Grab a coffee, take a break, answer the questions, and help ensure that governments and policymakers see you as visible, valued, and respected. For our next issue of Primary Times, our magazine for APNA members, we'd like to hear from nurses and midwives working in primary health care/outside of a hospital setting who changed careers later in life. We'd love to know what you were doing before you trained to become a nurse and what prompted your decision to do something a little different. Your story may be just the thing someone needs to read before taking the plunge and applying to study! Please email our communications coordinator, Dani Neal, at editor@apna.asn.au to learn more. #nurse #nurses #midwives #primaryhealthcare

This afternoon, our CEO, Ken Griffin, and board member Denise Lyons were in Canberra, advocating on behalf of primary health care nurses and midwives to the House Committee for Health, Aged Care and Sport in Parliament House. We spoke about how nurses and midwives are skilled, safe, and experienced, but they are also not able to work within their full scope of practice. If allowed to do so, we can ensure Australians get quality care in their communities. #Health #healthcare #primaryhealthcare #nurse #nurses #midwives #nursepractitioners #registerednurse #enrollednurse
