𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗘𝗥𝗧 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗬𝗢𝗧𝗧𝗔𝗕𝗬𝗧𝗘 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗖𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝗘𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗜𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗱, 𝗣𝗮𝗸𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻 – National CERT, in partnership with YOTTABYTE and in collaboration with the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), the National Science & Technology Park (NSTP), and the APNIC Foundation, successfully conducted an intensive two-day Cyber Defence BootCamp in Islamabad. Designed for hands-on learning, this exclusive training program provided participants with practical exposure to both offensive and defensive cybersecurity tactics, empowering them with the skills needed to tackle modern cyber threats effectively. The BootCamp featured immersive exercises under two specialized tracks—Blitz Brigade and Guardians Grid—ensuring a comprehensive learning experience in real-world cybersecurity applications. Representing National CERT, Mr. Imran Haider, Manager Trainings, played a key role in facilitating the sessions and engaging with participants. YOTTABYTE's invaluable partnership, under the leadership of its CEO, Mr. Haris Shamsi, was instrumental in making this bootcamp a success, delivering high-impact training and ensuring a cutting-edge learning experience. #Climatechange is driving wildfires around the world, which means better measures of tracking and prevention are needed. Project FIREfly is an experimental ISIF Asia-supported project tracking wildfires in #Thailand. The team at University of Glasgow Singapore, Chiang Mai University and RMIT University Vietnam is developing a real-time alert system for forest fire monitoring and prevention using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (#UAVs) and ground-based Internet of Things (#IoT) sensors. It's one way the Foundation is harnessing the power of the Internet to combat the effects of #climate change. By prioritizing community-led solutions, these events promoted self-sufficiency and resilience. They underscored the importance of involving local stakeholders in the decision-making process, ensuring that solutions are tailored to the specific needs of the community. Funders who invest in initiatives that prioritize local engagement are more likely to see sustainable outcomes." It's crucial to be able to pivot a project when necessary. A recent ISIF Asia-supported project by the The University of Auckland initially planned to conduct their satellite #connectivity #research on an island in #NewZealand, but circumstances changed and they found themselves without a partner. So they moved it to #Kiribati! The team has been conducting research into improving connectivity in the #Pacific. Pacific Islands often have faster networks within each island, but when they connect beyond the island they need to use "narrower" #satellite connections. So for island-to-island hops and beyond, they try to predict when the narrower connection has room for their packets - this research has been about optimizing and improving those predictions.
