Today we had the privilege of a visit from some of the team at Global Victoria to our Melbourne office in Southbank. We had a great discussion with Lamia Damerje MDY and Madelaine Sexton.
One of the great things about my role is that I get to interact one on one with #Victorian companies when I’m back in Melbourne! I spend most of the year working with them via teams and through a screen, so it’s very refreshing when I get to see them in person! Today I had the chance to visit the offices of AQUATEC in Melbourne, and meet with Rohan Sali, Harvey Seeley and Ivan Reolon to discuss their future plans in the region! Thank you for welcoming Madelaine Sexton and myself! Gönül Serbest Global Victoria

We welcomed representatives from the Industry Capability Network (ICN) to our Shepparton headquarters last week. Nick Foa, Chief Executive Officer, and Christian Saunders, Industry Adviser, ICN Victoria, took a tour of our facilities with Aquatec Business Development Executive, Rohan Sali
It was a pleasure to welcome Christian Saunders, Industry Adviser at ICN Victoria, and Nick Foa, Chief Executive Officer at Industry Capability Network, to our AQUATEC HQ in Shepparton. Following my attendance at the Regional Showcase event in Wangaratta, it was great to continue the conversation and showcase how Aquatec is driving innovation and impact across the industry. Collaboration with ICN Victoria plays a key role in strengthening local supply chains and unlocking new opportunities for businesses like ours. We appreciate the time and insights from Christian and NicK and look forward to staying engaged. #IndustryCollaboration #ICNVictoria #Aquatec #RegionalShowcase #BuildingConnections

PROJECT UPDATE: Shepherds Lane, Sunbury, Victoria | Maintenance holes, storage vessels and pump stations Expanding and upgrading wastewater infrastructure is a multifaceted investment supporting growing communities' health, environment, and economy. With the Sunbury region forecast to increase from 17,000 lots to 64,000 lots in the next 50 years, Greater Western Water is investing in expanding its water and wastewater infrastructure. Watch a snippet of AQUATEC’s precast pumping station installation at the Shepherds Lane site. Aquatec partnered with YVE and Spiire to design and construct a sewer pump station, construction of approximately 60m of sewer reticulation, design and construction of sewer rising main on Shepherds Lane as part of Redstone Estate, Sunbury – developed by Villawood Properties. The precast pumping station comprises 2 x Submersible Sewerage Pumps plumbed inside a 3,200mmØ x 12,040mm deep 50mpa mould-formed heavy-duty reinforced concrete pumping chamber with sulphate-resistant cement internally lined in accordance with Greater Western Water specifications. The installation of AQUATEC’s maintenance holes (1850mmØ x 8400mm and 10200 mm deep, 2000mmØ x 10400mm deep) and fibreglass storage vessels measuring an impressive 3.5m Ø x 23m long was a key component of the project. Other components included the manufacturing, installation, and testing of a single-sided control panel with sections for power distribution, pump control, telemetry, and Power Authority Metering, conforming to the requirements of AS3600. #WaterInfrastructure #Wastewater #WaterEngineering #SewerPumpStation

We were honoured to participate and support the Victorian Bioenergy Network event in Bendigo last Friday. Our biogas specialist, Robie Mangubat, presented on the topic of biogas conditioning. We were inspired to hear about the many approaches to integrating biogas into the energy mix. Projects that convert human, agricultural, and animal waste into biomethane contribute to efficient waste management and provide a renewable energy source. We look forward to working with our clients, longstanding and new, to explore ways to maximise the potential of biogas from wastewater. #Biogas #RenewableEnergy #CircularEconomy #Bioenergy #Wastewater Pictured: Robie Mangubat (L) | Senior Odour Control Consultant with Elizabeth Lewis-Gray FTSE FAusIMM GAICD (R) | Bioenergy Network Chair

This year’s winners of the Australian Water Association’s (AWA) 2025 ACT Water Awards were celebrated at the ACT Water Leaders Dinner & Awards on 27 February at Old Parliament House. Aquatec, in collaboration with Icon Water and Diona, won the Infrastructure Project Innovation Award (METRO) for its groundbreaking odour control technology, which prioritises operator safety, efficiency, and sustainability. The Award is a tribute to AQUATEC's values of collaboration, innovation and excellence. The new approach is set to become the industry standard, revolutionising how activated carbon media replacement is conducted in the water sector. Traditionally, Activated Carbon Unit maintenance involves high-risk tasks such as confined space entry, manual handling, working at heights, and biohazard exposure. Recognising these dangers, Icon Water and Aquatec have introduced an innovative ACU design featuring modular, stainless-steel cassettes for the carbon media. These cassettes can be safely removed and replaced via forklift, eliminating hazardous manual handling and reducing downtime from days to hours. The new ACU design eliminates key safety hazards: ↳ Confined space entry – maintenance personnel no longer need to enter vessels, reducing exposure to hazardous atmospheres. ↳ Biohazard exposure – operators avoid direct contact with spent carbon media, which can contain harmful contaminants. ↳ Noise exposure – the removal of vacuuming processes significantly reduces high noise levels. ↳ Manual handling – forklift operations replace manual lifting, enhancing worker safety. ↳ Working at heights & suspended loads – eliminating crane operations and overhead lifting reduces the risk of falls and accidents. ↳ Slips and falls – the streamlined process prevents media spills, further minimising workplace hazards. Upon accepting the Award, Andrew Fleming, Aquatec’s Senior Technical Consultant, said: ❝We are truly honoured to receive this recognition from the Australian Water Association. This achievement reflects the dedication, collaboration, and expertise of many talented individuals from Icon Water and Aquatec over the past four years. Their combined technical knowledge and experience have set a new standard for odour control solutions, protecting community health and well-being.❞ #OdourControl #Wastewater #ActivatedCarbon
