Visiting the Barossa Valley this Saturday, 14 September?     Join James of @lienertvineyardsbarossa as our Artisan in the House to immerse yourself in the Western Ridge of the Barossa Valley, with a particular deep dive on Mataro.    Mataro, also known as Mourvèdre in France and Monastrell in Spain, is one of the Barossa Valley's true unsung heroes. It thrives in our warm climate and ancient soils, yielding wines that are rich, robust, and deeply evocative of our region. Mataro is a resilient variety, often found in the gnarled, old vines that have stood the test of time in Barossa's landscape.      Mataro brings an earthy, gamey character in the glass with dark fruits, black pepper, and herbal spice. It's a wine that evolves beautifully, with layers of complexity and a tannin structure that speaks to its strength and versatility.     While it often plays a supporting role in our iconic GSM blends, it shines just as brightly on its own, delivering full-bodied, textured wines, and are uniquely expressive of Barossa terroir.      At Artisans of Barossa, Mataro is celebrated for its ability to capture the essence of our land—bold, resilient, and unapologetically Barossan. Whether paired with hearty dishes or enjoyed on its own, Mataro is a wine that tells a story of our region’s history, craftsmanship, and the unwavering spirit of the Barossa Valley.    #artisaninthehouse #artisansofbarossa #barossa #cellardoor
