Our Brisbane-based colleagues Sanja Marais and Petri Austin took on an incredible challenge with the Sisters of the Saddle Foundation. After 12 weeks of intense training, getting up at 4am for 3-4 sessions a week, they embarked on a 350km ride over three days in the Noosa hinterland, using their two paid volunteer leave days. Sisters of the Saddle was formed in 2021, uniting professional women with a passion for riding and a mission to support communities and young people. With strong friendships and a shared vision, they have been making a difference together. The charities supported by the fundraising ride are: Zephyr Education Inc., which helps children affected by domestic violence get back to school by providing all necessary supplies; and TRACTION , which empowers young people through mentoring and hands-on learning to build resilience, confidence, and skills for the future Petri and Sanja raised an impressive $15,300. Due to their incredible fundraising efforts Aspen Medical is matching up to $2500 each, making that a grand total of $20,300. #AspenMedical #SistersOfTheSaddle #SOTS2024 #SocialImpact #Volunteering #GivingBack

We were thrilled to be a finalist in the Blind Australian of the Year Awards - Employer of Choice catergory, which was held in Brisbane last night. Congratulations to AMP, who took home the award. Our submission was inspired by our vision-impaired colleague, Ben Clare, who recently became our Disability Inclusion Advisor. Being a finalist is a testament to our longtime commitment to true inclusion, where ability and contributions matter most. Together, we’re proving that disability is an asset, and we’re excited about what we’ll continue to achieve with Ben’s passion for his work. #AspenMedical #DisabilityInclusion

Clowning around for a great cause... 🤡 Aspen Medical Foundation Board Member, Amelda Keys, and Social Impact Manager Melissa Broers accompanied Dr. Snooze and Dr. Holiday during their recent fun rounds at Canberra Hospital. The Clown Doctors from The Humour Foundation use humour to create a more positive experience for children and their parents in the hospital. Melissa Broers shared, “It was truly wonderful to see the Clown Doctors in action. Their approach was much gentler than I had anticipated, with the Clown Doctors reading the child’s consent and easing their way in.” The Aspen Medical Foundation proudly co-funded The Humour Foundation alongside the John James Foundation through the latest Hands Across Canberra Collaborative Grants round. #AspenMedical #AspenMedicalFoundation #ClownDoctors #HumourFoundation #CanberraHospital #SocialImpact #Philanthropy

Today we raise a toast to our Payroll Manager, Bonnie Bleathman, who is celebrating 15 years with Aspen Medical. According to Bonnie, “It doesn’t seem like 15 years, I have seen a lot of change, met some wonderful people, and learnt a lot during this time. "One thing is for sure, there is never a dull moment in Payroll or Aspen Medical, and I have loved every minute of it.” And we love you, our Payroll Princess! #AspenMedical #WorkAnniversary #WorkMilestone

Our colleague Ben Clare has a new role at Aspen Medical. And it's not the kind of role you see at many companies - that of Disability Inclusion Advisor. Ben’s job is to maximise disability inclusion, both internally and externally at Aspen Medical, amongst employees, employers, and customers. Ben says, "If you don’t have a disability inclusive product or strategy, you can miss out on a potential market. "A Disability Inclusion Advisor is a relatively unique position. Not many workplaces are fortunate enough to have one." We are fortunate enough not only to have one but have Ben do it. #AspenMedical #DisabilityInclusion Check out Ben's full interview on our blog. 👇 https://lnkd.in/gcWTN3Er.

Virtual health. Real results. Go team! 👏
3,2,1....3 Registered Nurses, 2 Laura's and 1 set of identical twins. Thrilled to be kicking off the annual Aspen Medical Virtual Health Leaders Summit with a case of Guess Who and a healthy dose of Imposter Syndrome (attempting to reframe these feelings as a positive emotion - triggered by being surrounded by members of my own extraordinary team). Their job isn't easy - it's gritty, requiring incredible resilience and a spirit that stays strong under considerable adversity. This team consistently reanchor me to our wider purpose and remind me of the selfless role of our collective frontline healthcare workforce. Go Team Aspen Medical! 🌟 #HealthcareLeaders #Teamwork #Resilience

What an eventful morning it was last Friday as the Aspen Medical Foundation launched its Impact Report for 2023/24. In addition to speeches by Assistant Minister the Hon Dr Andrew Leigh MP and Aspen Medical Foundation Chair Sian Keys, the gathering was treated to a short presentation by Don Palmer, CEO of Malpa - an organisation that the Aspen Medical Foundation has been working with for the past decade. The Malpa Young Doctors for Life program is a health leadership program training mainly First Nations school children to become health ambassadors in their communities. This year, with encouragement from the Aspen Medical Foundation, and assistance from Alcoa Foundation, the Malpa program has been introduced in Western Australia for the first time. Aspen Medical Foundation Chair Sian Keys said that in the next stage of the Foundation’s development, the focus will be about building upon two core elements: the scholarship program and strengthening partnerships. “Scholarships are an integral part of the Aspen Medical Foundation’s philanthropy, whether they are directly with individuals or through tertiary institutions. By supporting current and future healthcare workers, whether they be in Australia or the Indo-Pacific, we can make a tangible impact to those working directly in the communities, and the communities that they work in. “Our partners are a critical element of the Aspen Medical Foundation, who enable work to be done in the communities who need it the most. We partner with organisations on the ground, who know the communities that they are working in, and understand how to best make an impact,” said Sian. Thanks to the Hon Dr Andrew Leigh MP, Assistant Minister for Competition, Charities and Treasury, for coming to our global HQ today to launch the Aspen Medical Foundation Social Impact Report 2023/24. The Australian Government is committed to collaborating with the philanthropic, not‑for‑profit, and business sectors to double philanthropic giving by 2030. Assistant Minister Leigh said, "Working across three pillars of First Nations Health, Disability Health and Indo-Pacific Health - the Aspen Medical Foundation has focused on big impacts. "Since its establishment in 2008, the foundation has provided a way for Aspen Medical’s shareholders to allocate a percentage of profits to charitable causes – generating social impact and public good from the success of the company. "Across a range of the Foundation’s initiatives, I see a common thread – a goal of inspiring health care workers and young doctors to build community resilience and lasting human impact."
