"While the People and Culture folks might set the tone for organisational values and behaviours, the emotional culture within smaller teams or departments often dictates how employees feel daily. And when they feel more positive emotions, they are more likely to feel good about coming to work." I'm just polishing the latest culture newsletter from Assembly Culture and it's focus on sub-cultures, the culture that exists in teams and cohorts and contributes to the organisational culture. Assembly Culture just turned 2! ICYMI, Assembly Culture is where it’s at for all things organisational culture. Assembly Culture, or AC, was launched back in 2022 to capture the work I do under a brand that represented something more, something different, in the culture space. At AC, we do culture differently. At AC, there’s a touch of rebelliousness - we don’t conform to traditional models of learning or teaching. Emotional Culture was unheard of 15 years ago and we love teaching the old-school crew new-school cool. We see the big picture, and we love bringing people on the journey too. Here are 3 ways you can work with AC: 🚀 Culture Workshops - if you have been through change (who hasn’t) we can work together at any level of your organisation to diagnose, clarify and close the gap on the practices that create and amplify culture 🎯 Culture Coaches Program - if you want to empower your people to lead your culture, this program equips culture influencers up, down and across your organisation to have an impact and lead culture change through micro-moments and daily interactions 🏎️ Culture x Leadership - leadership and culture go hand in hand, so it’s essential that your leaders understand the culture signals they are sending. We can work through 1:1 coaching or team workshops. The Assembly Culture experience connects the dots between emotion and behaviour, then looks to the practices, habits, rituals, signals and actions that can shift the way you work together. This is Emotional Culture. This is Assembly Culture. #assemblyculture #organisationalculture #emotionalculture #culture #workshopfacilitator #leadershipcoach #coach #facilitatormelbourne

Culture is everywhere in your organisation - so it needs to be carefully and intentionally guided and crafted at every level. With every function. Every team. Every team within a team. Every project group. Every geographical location. Every hierarchical level. Working on your culture isn't a quick win, it's playing the long game, and it requires an investment in resources, time and energy to do it well. Even more to do it great. It's giving the opportunity to your current employees to do their best work. It's building stories, rituals and practices for tomorrow's employees to enjoy. And it's future proofing the organisation. So I'd say it's probably definitely worth the effort, and the investment. What small actions are you doing today to build for tomorrows culture? #culture #organisationalculture #culturecoachesprogram #emotionalculture Assembly Culture

You can't reshape culture by forcing it from the top. You can't reshape culture without taking your people on a journey. You can't reshape culture without looking to your strategy. You can't reshape culture by assigning it to the P&C team. You can't reshape culture through a small group of people in the organisation. You can't reshape culture by copying and pasting what might have worked before. You can't reshape culture through one workshop. And you can't reshape culture by relying on one or two amazing leaders in your organisation. Want to reshape your culture? Get everyone involved. Go far and go wide. To shift and reshape a culture, you need to involve and include everyone, every team, every function, and most important of all, every leader. You need voices and ears, and a commitment to making change. Not sure where to start? Start by opening up a conversation about better ways to 'do things around here' and listen. Take action - micro actions, small shifts, then look for opportunities to take tough stands for things that matter. #culturematters #organisationalculture #organizationalculture #culture #emotionalculture #assemblyculture Assembly Culture

Emotionally intelligent people make better lovers. Oh, whoops, right day, wrong platform. ❤️ 🌶️ But in all seriousness, emotionally intelligent leaders make, well... better leaders. According to Wharton professor Sigal Barsade and her colleague professor Olivia A. O'Neill, love in the workplace, or companionate love, is a very real thing that has positive impacts on relationships and work outcomes. In multiple studies across 8 industries, employees who felt a work environment with care and love reported higher levels of satisfaction and teamwork. Absenteeism was down, productivity, commitment and accountability were up, and even client outcomes were improved-in life changing ways. The authors of this study notes that small moments between co-workers on a consistent basis helped create and maintain this culture of companionate love. It's the micro moments that make the difference, and as a leader can send a really powerful signal to your people. An encouraging smile during a meeting, a handwritten note of thanks, the chocolate left on a desk for a celebration, remembering the teammate who doesn't eat meat, saying thanks for going to extra mile. Small tiny moments are the building blocks. Better lovers / leaders create the love and care. What's the environment you are creating? #valentinetip #emotionalculture #culture #leadership #coach #facilitator #love #companionatelove #assemblyculture

5 days 4 flights 3 massive workshops 2 beautiful handmade gifts 1 rare 1970's Woodstock vinyl record (long story!) And a hundred moments of joy and gratitude. Last week I was in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea delivering a pilot of my Culture Coaches Program for a group of PNG National corporate services staff. In the time we spent together, I could see them moving from a group of people coming together to becoming a team. The rapport and relationships that come from being in a room with your colleagues and talking about aspects of work beyond technical and process never ceases to amaze me. The micromoments of connection were the most powerful. And every session had the team saying how much they appreciated the time together learning about themselves and their colleagues. They said the energy in the office the next day was so much different, better. I was in PNG 12 years ago & always felt I'd be back. So lucky that I get to do work I love, with people I genuinely like, and in fascinating places like PNG. I look forward to continuing work with this amazing team in 2024. If you want to skill up your team to build their skills and confidence to manage culture from within their team or functional area, it's time to get in touch for a Q1 start. #culture #emotionalculture #strengths #personalleadership #teamdynamics #teamculture #culturecrafting Assembly Culture
