Calling all aviators! ✈️ Join the Defence Blood Challenge and make a life-saving difference! This incredible initiative has been running for 16 years, collecting vital blood, plasma, and platelets to help those in need across Australia. Helping drive this push is new Air Force Blood Challenge Ambassador, Warrant Officer of the Air Force (WOFF-AF) Ralph Clifton, who believes now is a particularly important time for aviators to donate blood where they can. “There is always a significant strain on the availability of blood and plasma supplies in Australia so we need to encourage more participation from not just eligible donors of the Air Force, but anyone who wants to help ensure supplies are available for those who need these potentially life-saving blood products.” WOFF-AF Clifton said. Did you know that Glenbrook's RAAF origins date back to 1949? RAAF Base Glenbrook has witnessed many changes since it was first acquired by the government for RAAF use in 1949. Evolving from the old Lapstone Hotel, built in the 1930's into a key player in our Air Force mission and home to Air Command. A constant throughout the decades has been the strong connection the base and those working there have maintained with the local Blue Mountains community. Commemorating the 75 years of Air Force’s continued presence at RAAF Base Glenbrook a C-130J Hercules aircraft from No. 37 Squadron will conduct a flypast on Thursday, 10 October 2024 at 5:30pm and 6:25pm.
