June 2024 losses – a big month for QLD The devastation of businesses by major loss does not just impact assets. They impact people. 2 major losses have impacted communities in QLD. A mine in Central QLD, established in 2015 at a development cost of over $1bn has had a second explosion and fire in 4 years, affecting the livelihoods of over 1,000 employees, and disrupting global coking coal supplies . A major fire at a storage facility in the Greater Brisbane area has impacted scores of families who relied on the facility to store their belongings. A new gym in Brisbane has had a devastating fire caused by a faulty sauna. An industrial galvanising factory has had a large fire that was assisted by the stock of chemicals. Aside from the commercial losses we document, there has been a noticeable increase in house and apartment fires. In a number of instances, in June lives have been lost. We have included notable large apartment losses to the database, including a diesel spill in Vic. https://lnkd.in/gXknKX2K
