Our refugee cookbook, Flavours of Hope, is now live! From Ukraine to Sierra Leone, each recipe was handpicked by a current or former refugee to give you a taste of their culture. Inside, you’ll find delicious recipes for Vietnamese pho, Syrian sweets and more. Our Ambassador, Janine Allis, founder of Boost Juice, is making a donation every time someone downloads the book. These funds will go towards UNHCR’s life-saving work, helping people flee conflict, disaster and persecution around the world. Get your free copy of the book today: https://lnkd.in/gY9iyi-Z

Can a single T-shirt inspire peace? That’s the vision behind UNIQLO’s PEACE FOR ALL campaign. This project has engaged artists from around the world to create designs that reflect peace, with proceeds from shirt sales supporting humanitarian organisations like UNHCR. For the PEACE FOR ALL campaign, UNIQLO partnered with Magnum photographer Lindokuhle Sobekwa, who travelled to Ethiopia with UNHCR to document the powerful stories of refugees through his lens. Swipe through to discover the inspiration behind the new UNIQLO PEACE FOR ALL shirts. Pick up your PEACE FOR ALL shirt at your local UNIQLO or order online today: https://lnkd.in/g9U4twsK

A displaced Lebanese man holds his young son in his arms. A boy plays alone on the floor. A grandmother cares for her grandchild. Two sisters look out from their temporary shelter. These are just some of the scenes from inside the makeshift shelters that have provided safety and security for displaced Lebanese people around Beirut. Across Lebanon, UNHCR and its partners are providing critical support for displaced people, distributing mattresses, blankets and kitchen sets to those affected by the ongoing crisis.

Meet Bassel, a Syrian refugee and musician, with his beloved dog Stella. After fleeing to Belgium in 2015, Bassel found safety and new friends who helped him reunite with his best friend – a white shepherd dog named Stella. Bassel’s hosts, Joannes and Ann, could see how badly he missed Stella, so they hatched a plan to rescue the dog out of Syria. With the help of a daring taxi driver, Stella made her way from Damascus to Beirut, where Joannes met her, made sure she had all the correct paperwork, and coaxed her into a crate for her journey to Brussels in the cargo hold of a commercial plane. Shaken by the journey, it took Stella some time to settle into her new home. But Stella and Bassel are once again inseparable. Reuniting with Stella helped Bassel’s life feel complete again. Since then he has opened a successful café – named after Stella. ☕️🎶💙

Airstrikes forced Hameeda and her grandson to flee their home in Lebanon. “I left at the last possible moment, when I lost all hope and knew I shouldn’t stay there,” she said. They found safety in a school that has been turned into a shelter in Beirut. “I hope this does not last long. I wish it would be over sooner rather than later.” Across Lebanon, UNHCR and it’s partners are providing critical support for families like Hameeda’s, distributing essentials like mattresses, blankets and kitchen sets to people displaced by the crisis.
