About us
The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) is the national organisation responsible for implementing the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme across Australia, in partnership with the 15 National Boards. Guided by a nationally consistent law, Ahpra and the National Boards work to regulate the health professions in the public interest. This includes registering practitioners who are suitably trained and qualified to provide safe healthcare and investigating concerns about registered health practitioners. Guided by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples with living experience of racism, Ahpra’s reform work aims to better protect Indigenous Peoples from racism in all forms, interpersonal, institutional, and create culturally safe healthcare.

If you receive a notice from an Ahpra investigator or inspector, it’s important you take it seriously. Failure to comply is a criminal offence and can lead to fines of up to $10,000 per notice.
