The Australian Cyber Conference, known as CyberCon Canberra 2025 takes place this week. Setting the direction for Australia’s cyber industry, it attracts the most influential cyber security politicians, policymakers and business leaders. Officially opening today and showcasing some of the world’s most leading minds in cyber, we play host to Futurist, Dr Jordan Nguyen at CyberCon Canberra. Dr Nguyen will thrill delegates with his AI companion robot, Koobo, which he will be bringing to the Conference. “A bin shaped robot with glowing eyes and the curiosity of a school-aged child could be the answer to Australia’s loneliness epidemic”, says The Australian Associated Press in the Canberra Times. A YouTube series, 'Enter the Future' dedicated to Koobo's evolution is out now. Read more: https://lnkd.in/gQYdKuCE Register: https://lnkd.in/gyR-P8Rg #CyberCon #CCCan25 #CyberConCanberra2025 #AI

Revenge of the Nerds: Confronting Gender Bias in Cyber security and Cyber crime Join us for an insightful presentation at the upcoming Australian Cyber Conference, known as CyberCon Canberra 2025. This talk examines how cyber security culture has evolved from a marginalised geek subculture into a male-dominated industry, exploring the consequences of hypermasculine narratives on policy-making and the exclusion of women. Drawing parallels to broader tech culture, the presentation will address the rise of ‘nerd masculinity’ its impact on digital abuse (e.g., AI deepfakes), and the challenges women face in online spaces. Annie Mei and Anika G., hosts of the Lost in Cyberia podcast and creators of @thecybersecuritygals, will also discuss grassroots efforts to create cultural change and make cyber security more accessible and inclusive. Annie-Mei and Anika both work in cyber security and started the podcast and the Instagram page to make cyber more inclusive and accessible to all. Don’t miss this critical discussion on reshaping the future of cyber security.
