Founded by Ben Ramsden, Olly Timing is an Australian-based sports technology company that leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to deliver affordable and accurate timing solutions for swimming competitions. With a career spanning executive roles at Vodafone and Telstra, Ramsden, originally an electrical engineer from the UK, brought his passion for innovation into the world of sports by introducing AI-driven solutions to a traditionally manual field. Ramsden participated in the ASTN Pre-Accelerator program, providing him with valuable content, networking opportunities, and practical support that helped grow Olly Timing since its inception in 2023. On this week’s Sport’s Cutting Edge episode, we heard from the founder of Safeguarding You, Adam Wood on how he utilises his company to support volunteers at community sporting clubs to better understand the process of risk management in sport clubs. Adam has been heavily involved with his own children’s sporting clubs, and understands the difficulty in navigating the need to report and adapt to issues that arise. Concussions are currently of great interest within the AFL, particularly exploring the trend of under-reporting, and the risks associated with trying to get back on the field. Safeguarding You is constantly evolving, creating new technology to allow teams and groups to monitor what they’ve done in the past, and prepare for their future. New Sport’s Cutting Edge podcast is out! Adam Wood, founder of Safeguarding You joins us to talk about the creation of his company and its mission to bridge the gap between understanding the risk and the resolved outcome. The recent inclusion of risk management into sports and recreation clubs can be challenging for organisations to manage. Adam founded Safeguarding You to simplify this process, making what was once daunting much easier. The program provides users with a simple assessment to understand their risks, then actionable advice is delivered to lower the risk percentage. We’re still buzzing a week since ASTN - Australian Sports Technologies Network women-led sportstech design session as part of STWS - Sports Tech World Series Sports Innovation Week. Check out the photo gallery to relive the highlights: https://lnkd.in/gycbBKGE #astn #stws #sportstech #innovation #womenleddesign #masterclass
Women-led Sportstech Design What an inspiring masterclass - Thank you to Kirsty Richardson - GravityFit, Saara Jamieson - Cool Beans Underwear, Michelle Walshe - CoachMate, Victoria Zorin - Nola, Maria Baker - Nobody’s Princess, Suzie Betts – Boob Armour, Marie Penny – Project Flock and Natalie Moore – Own Your Health Collective / MenoVest for sharing their founder stories, their passion and conviction for why and what they do. Thank you to Ashling James welcoming the founders and guests on behalf of Victorian Government to the Australian Sports Innovation Centre of Excellence (ASICE) located in Cremorne. Some of the main key takeaways from the showcase, presentations and discussion: 1. Sportstech is so much more than what is commonly expressed and includes advanced materials, sensors & devices, medical & health as well as information & communication technologies (see https://lnkd.in/gmV-wZG3). 2. Sportstech extends well beyond elite and high-performance only and also covers the business of sports & broadcasting in addition to active living and grassroots sports. 3. Cross-industry knowledge diffusion and transfer of insights from and to adjacent industries provides great input to implementing innovative ideas - adding value to both sides. Such a great start to the events at STWS - Sports Tech World Series Sports Innovation Week by the ASTN - Australian Sports Technologies Network Team of Amy Crosland conceptualising and moderating, Hayley Priestnall event managing, Nikita Vogel supporting and Tara Ballard promoting!
