In celebration of #WorldSpaceWeek we’re throwing back to the star appearance of astronaut Katherine Bennell-Pegg at Austrade! 🚀🌟🛰️ The high-flying Aussie has captured imaginations across the country — and the world — as the first person to become a qualified astronaut under the Australian flag. 🇦🇺 Katherine met with Austraders Peter Horn, Acting Deputy CEO Trade and Tamara Bell, Global Engagement Manager and Senior Adviser (a/g), Space at Austrade’s Melbourne office this September. After graduating as an astronaut from the European Space Agency - ESA in Cologne, Germany on April 22 with her wings next to the Australian flag on her shoulder, Katherine received her certification alongside the ESA Class of 2022. She is now qualified for missions to the International Space Station. Katherine has been promoting Australia's Nation Brand, which showcases Australia’s competitive edge across investment, tourism, and business, by wearing a lapel pin on her flight suit for appearances across Australia and internationally. An annual UN event, World Space Week celebrates the contributions of space science and technology to the betterment of the human condition.
