One of the leading causes of unintentional death for children is drowning. And for people on the autism spectrum, the risk of drowning is significantly increased when they: > Wander to seek out sensory input or avoid sensory overload > Have a decreased ability to perceive risk > Have limited swimming skills Drowning is PREVENTABLE. As a community, we can help people on the autism spectrum by: > Providing supports that meet their needs > Providing vital swimming skills > Knowing what to do when someone goes missing Our mission at Autism Swim is to ensure everyone gets a chance to survive in the water. We need your help to keep us on our mission. Please help us make a wave of change to turn these devastating statistics around.

Every day, parents of neurodivergent children reach out to us DESPERATE for help so their kids can learn to swim. This past week alone, we've received emails from... - A parent who's daughter is consistently 'in trouble' for not following instructions - A parent who's stopped lessons for their son a year ago due to the anxiety they developed from negative experiences - A parent who can't find anyone in their local area willing to accept and include their children into their swim centre 🌊 A WAVE OF CHANGE NEEDS TO HAPPEN - Parents shouldn't need to beg for inclusive services. - Neurodivergent people shouldn't need to miss out on swimming lessons. - Aquatic providers shouldn't need to hide behind excuses that it's 'not something we want to specialise in', 'too hard to do' etc Autism Swim is on a mission to change this and make sure everyone, everywhere, can access life saving water skills. As a charity, we're relying on the help of our community to financially support us. The ask: Can you donate or fundraise in your local community to raise funds and awareness for this cause? #neurodiversity #neurodivergence #inclusiveaquatics #inclusion #aquatics #aquaticeducation

Autism Swim offers a world-first certification in neurodiversity and aquatics, empowering aquatic providers with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to create positive experiences for neurodivergent individuals and their families. 🧠✨ Understanding neurodiversity is key to appreciating how our brains work differently! // Neurodiversity //refers to the natural variation in human minds, recognising the full spectrum of neurological differences from neurodivergent to neurotypical. // Neurodivergent // is an umbrella term for those whose brains diverge from what’s considered typical. // Neurotypical // describes individuals whose brains function within societal norms. Finally, neurodiverse refers to a group that represents this spectrum—individuals themselves cannot be neurodiverse, but rather neurodivergent. Embracing neurodiversity helps create a more inclusive world! 💙 #Neurodiversity #InclusionMatters #AutismAwareness #Neurodivergent #Neurotypical
