🧠✨ Understanding neurodiversity is key to appreciating how our brains work differently! // Neurodiversity //refers to the natural variation in human minds, recognising the full spectrum of neurological differences from neurodivergent to neurotypical. // Neurodivergent // is an umbrella term for those whose brains diverge from what’s considered typical. // Neurotypical // describes individuals whose brains function within societal norms. Finally, neurodiverse refers to a group that represents this spectrum—individuals themselves cannot be neurodiverse, but rather neurodivergent. Embracing neurodiversity helps create a more inclusive world! 💙 #Neurodiversity #InclusionMatters #AutismAwareness #Neurodivergent #Neurotypical

Why is this population group at such high risk of drowning compared to their peers? 🙅♀️ A lack of inclusive services 🌊 Difficulties in perceiving danger ⭕ Difficulties with generalisation At Autism Swim, we're on a mission to change this statistic by offering a world first certification to better support those who offer services in aquatic settings - for example, swimming instructors, physiotherapists, OTs, support workers. Alongside our certification, we offer resources and run a modified nippers program, Dippers to help teach invaluable water safety and capacity building skills in the beach setting. We're a charity, on a huge mission to reduce the risk of drowning for people on the autism spectrum. To find out more about what we do, check out our 2024 Annual Report - https://lnkd.in/gr_Sphp9 Image description: Text saying 'Individuals on the autism spectrum are at greater risk of drowning compared to their peers'.
