Aware Super welcomes the introduction of legislation that will ensure the Superannuation Guarantee is paid on government paid parental leave.      Tune into 3AW Drive at 5.10pm today to hear Jane Macnamara, Head of Advocacy, and Jacqui Felgate talk about what this could mean for Australian families. We urge parliament to pass this bill to help support Australian families build their retirement savings. Our CEO Deanne Stewart and WGEA Pay Equity Ambassador said: “We’ve been advocating for this change for many years on behalf of our members and all parents. We’re only too aware that caring duties fall disproportionately to women, and we want to see action now to help ensure they are financially secure in retirement.”  . . . ⭐ Gender pay gap values derived from the latest ABS AWE numbers released on the 18/07/2023. Times calculated are based on an average 40 hour working week. The projection is based on an average 32-year-old Australian woman with a salary $1,686 per week staying constant in real terms. Retirement balances are rounded to the nearest $1,000 and are stated in today's dollars, deflated using Average Weekly Ordinary Time Earnings (AWOTE) at 4.0% p.a. The projection assumes that a women gives birth at age 32, and then 34 and 36 if they have a second or third baby. The part time period starts immediately at age 32. The assumed investment option is a standard Growth option (Aware’s Balanced Option) returning CPI + 3.95% before admin fees.

Super proud to be one of only 41 Aussie workplaces awarded Workplace Gender Equality Agency Employer of Choice for Gender Equality for nine or more years, with just 115 workplaces recognised in total. This recognition shows our commitment to driving change and highlights our position as advocates for gender equality in the super and investment space.   Some of the things that contributed to our recognition?   🩷 A recruitment process that ensures gender split to drive equal representation across roles at all levels. We have 53% female representation overall, senior management is 50.4% female and our Board has 73% female representation.   💙 Flexible leave policies that we've focused on for years and are constantly looking to evolve for our people's needs. Menopause leave, gender transition leave, grandparents leave and paying Super on 12 months of parental leave are a few examples of our leave policies.   💜 Our CEO Deanne Stewart is a WGEA Pay Ambassador, committed to driving change for women's retirement in the super system more broadly.   Read more here: https://bit.ly/46p2pLy

Orange is the new pink...or is pink the new orange 😉   Either way, we spent some time with new sponsorship partners the GWS GIANTS to get more insight into how they show up both on and off the field. As a super fund that champions being super helpful to our 1.1 million members, we wanted to hear about how our values are reflected in the GIANTS team culture.   Confirming we also like Cooper's suit and will be cheering on the GIANTS this weekend 🩷🧡

Our Head of International and Deputy CIO Damien Webb met with the new Prime Minister of the UK, Sir Keir Starmer for his first summer business reception at 10 Downing Street yesterday. A huge thank you the PM and his team for the invitation.    We joined 75 business leaders from top companies like Google, GlaxoSmithKline and CPPIB to hear what the new government’s top priorities were, directly from global decision makers and policy shapers. Since the launch of Aware Super UK last year, we've continued to build on our reputation as an active, leading global institutional investor. We're well positioned to deliver strong risk-adjusted returns to our 1.1 million Australian members and provide exciting opportunities for our employees and communities across the UK.   We also look forward to working with the new Chancellor of the Exchequer Rt Hon Rachel Reeves and Secretary of State for Business and Trade Jonathan Reynolds MP, as well as continuing with the strong relationship we’ve developed with the UK’s Department for Business and Trade.
