On World Environment Day, we are proud to share a new recycling initiative that is diverting rubber gumboots away from landfill.♻️ Steel-toe gumboots are a vital part of the personal protective equipment worn by our team members working underground. The recycling project began in January at Sunrise Dam, and our Cowal operation commenced in May. Since then, we have recycled 857kg of textiles and hardware, contributing to a reduction of 2,998kg of greenhouse gas emissions. Plans are well underway to roll out the program across all our sites as we work towards a more sustainable future.🌿🌎

ANZAC Day commemorates those who served in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations and we remember the servicemen and women who gave their lives or were injured in the name of freedom, peace and prosperity. This morning our teams commemorated ANZAC Day with dawn ceremonies at sites across Australia. We thank all veterans, Reservists and Defence families for your service and contributions. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor they years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning. We will remember them.   Lest We Forget.

Barminco proudly supported three teams attending the 46th Intercollegiate Mining Games, hosted by Montana Technological University in Butte, Montana recently. ⚒ Congratulations to the WASM Wombats Mining Team - Men’s A Team who took out second place in the Hand Steel event, and the Colorado School of Mines, Men’s A Team taking out first place in the Mucking and Swede Saw events. Special mention to the Camborne School of Mines, University of Exeter - Women’s team, placing second overall after taking out first place in an impressive four of seven events!🎉 The teams put in a stellar effort, demonstrating grit and determination in near-freezing conditions against stiff competition from the host teams.👏 The Games are hosted at a different mining university each year, bringing together hundreds of Mining Engineering students to compete in traditional mining techniques. Students from all over the world come together to showcase traditional mining methods, network with industry peers and build camaraderie. #mininggames #intercollegiatemininggames #miningindustry #wasmwombats

The Mine Changer electric light vehicle was at the off-road track last week to be put through its paces. The day was hosted by Barminco and Huber Automotive AG for mining industry peers to test drive the Mine Changer and understand the features and capabilities.   Barminco is the first Australian mining company to trial Huber Automotive’s Mine Changer. This is Huber’s first Landcruiser conversion in Australia and data gathered from the Barminco trial provides an opportunity for Huber operations to test and refine the vehicle’s performance in the harsh underground environment.   Stay tuned for more updates as our trial progresses.
