Today Community Capital, a joint venture between Barrenjoey and Laurence Marshbaum OAM that aims to deliver strong returns and social impact through a private credit fund, has announced the next round of grants to five Social Purpose Organisations. The Fund commits multi-year funding that enables promising Social Purpose Organisations to build capacity and scale their impact, supporting each organisation on their pathway to sustainability. Bringing together capital and capability to support areas of unmet community need is one of the many ways in which the firm gives back. We are excited to see these organisations continue to flourish.
Aligning private market investments with community-based outcomes sits at the heart of everything we do. Today, Community Capital marks the next stage of our journey by announcing the next round of grants, as well as the final close of the Community Capital Credit Fund with A$674M of capital commitments. The five Social Purpose Organisations receiving multi-year grants in this year’s grant round are: ConFit Pathways, Consent Labs, ReLove, The Reily Foundation and ID Know Yourself. This new grant round brings the total funding commitment from Community Capital to over A$5.3 million. These organisations have inspiring founders with unique perspectives on the problems they are working toward solving. This provides them with deep insight and empathy for how to solve the problems they are addressing in a scalable and impactful way. Our grants allow them to scale that impact and support these organisations on a pathway to viability. At Barrenjoey, we’re proud supporters of NASCA, a First Nations led not for profit that provides holistic support to young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, supporting them on their educational pathway to a self-determined future. Recently, students from across NSW visited the Barrenjoey Sydney office as part of NASCA's annual CareerFit conference. The visit saw Chris Schedlich, Jenna Cork, April Lowis, Diya Goswami, Meira Jackson, and Li-Enn Koo from the Barrenjoey team share how finance works and key financial concepts with the students through activities including trivia and a lolly trading session. Barrenjoey's support for the NASCA Pathways Program helps improve educational outcomes for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students through by developing their study and work pathways through high school and beyond. We had the pleasure of being a sponsor for the Australian Business Economists | abe.org.au’s annual dinner this week, where RBA Governor Michele Bullock spoke about the recent monetary policy decision and the changes the bank is implementing to its monetary policy processes. The coming year will be characterised by ongoing policy uncertainty and it was valuable to come together as an industry to look ahead, with the economy currently at a crossroads.
