Industry has been calling for a Queensland Timber Action Plan for some time now. Under the Crisafulli Government, one will finally be delivered. This landmark plan is vital to ensuring our state has access to the resources required to build one million homes by 2044. It will be released within our first year of Government. It was great to catch up with Timber Queensland last week where we discussed the importance of this industry. A special thanks go to Pat Weir MP for opening the evening.

More than 50 employees from Maryborough manufacturing businesses are working to complete a Certificate IV in Leadership and Management, supported by the fee-free TAFE program. The course kicked off last month and will continue over the next year, with participants receiving online training and coming together for a face-to-face workshop each month. Businesses involved include Baywood, Hyne Timber, Downer, Global Manufacturing Group, Allweld Manufacturing Pty Ltd, Moddex Group, Modsel and Agricon Products. We’re excited to see this local professional development opportunity designed for manufacturing industry staff come together through the efforts of TAFE Queensland, local manufacturers and our Manufacturing Hub staff!
