Last month we celebrated what has been an astonishing 54-year career at Berg for our brilliant fitter and turner Keith Pavey. Keith was our very first employee way back in 1972 when Berg first opened its doors under our founders Roger and Pam Berg who hired Keith as a teenager. In 2022, when Berg celebrated its 50th anniversary, Keith also celebrated 50 years of service; to honour his dedication, he was presented with a new car and had the Brisbane warehouse named after him! In his more than five decades working at the company, Keith clocked up over 110,000 hours and processed on average 300 jobs a year, working on one of our largest machines. Keith, your commitment and contribution has been incredible, and you will be very missed. Recently completed for one of our key clients, this discharge head is for a 26” multistage sea water pump that runs at 1450 RPM and has a capacity of 2142m3/HR, with a head up to 206 vertical metres of sea water. - Made up of multiple prep-machined components from exotic 2205 duplex stainless steel - Fabricated using gas metal arc welding in full compliance with ASME B31.3 standards - Finish machined in one single set up on our Okuma Double Column Machining Centre - Then completed with hydro testing, pickle and passivated, and paint This discharge head is one of many projects that are seen through to completion at the Brisbane facility. Closely coordinated and scheduled through the departments of design and engineering, weld, machining, and fitting, saw this complex, highly toleranced fabrication delivered on time and budget. The Berg Engineering team in Brisbane thoroughly enjoys getting stuck into these challenges, exercising their technical discipline, and partnered with exceptional teamwork.

Our Brisbane workshop Weld Department Supervisor, Jordan, is one step closer to his professional goal of becoming a Weld Coordinator! After months of hard work and commitment, he has successfully passed the C10 Welding Supervisor AS 1796 Certification of Welders and Welding, all while continuing to support his team and playing the lead role in our successful ISO 3834 yearly audit through Weld Australia. Jordan’s drive and focus to progress through the levels of his discipline are inspiring.
