We recently had the privilege to spend some time and work with the Woppaburra Land Trust to develop a project that sees culture and Country at the forefront. To provide and facilitate opportunities for mob to be back on Country is at the core of everything we do. Through this project we hope to contribute to the reinstatement of culture and community in such a special place. Thanks Woppa for treating us so well!

Beyond four walls What we do is about more than the built environment – it’s about Country, culture and community. We had the privilege of spending time at Cherbourg State School, working alongside community to create a kid's book that reflects who they are and where they come from. This is about more than design – it’s about connection, pride and celebrating the strength of community through a project led by the students. We are all proud to have played a part in a project so full of community spirit and can't wait for the books to find their homes throughout community. QUT (Queensland University of Technology)

We hope everyone is safe and well after ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred. With everything changing around us, it's more important than ever for future generations to have a hand in shaping the built environment. We’ve been deep in project work, but it’s time to properly celebrate our 2024 scholarship recipients! The UQ Blaklash Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Internship was awarded to Braelyn Rolfe-Chase, a proud Ngugi woman studying a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Queensland. As part of the internship, Braelyn has been working with the UQ Art Museum, bringing her knowledge and perspective into the arts space. The QUT Blaklash Built Environment Scholarship was awarded to Jerome Wu, a Torres Strait Islander man from Erub Island, currently studying Interior Design at QUT. It is exciting to see Jerome shaping the future of Country-led design through his studies and work at Cox Architecture. Through the work we deliver at Blaklash, we’re committed to supporting the next generation of First Nations creatives and change makers. We can’t wait to see what Braelyn and Jerome do next. Always grounded in Country, culture and community. #TheFutureIsBlak QUT (Queensland University of Technology) The University of Queensland Art Museum Braelyn Rolfe-Chase Jerome Wu

Honoured to be featured in the 2024 Good Design Year Book for the development of Queensland Health First Nations Design Framework. Even more deadly to be feature alongside Nicole Monks (mili mili) and the team as fellow recipients of the annual Indigenous Design Award for ‘Signal Fire’. As we roll out the Framework on an important remote health project, we’re focused on ensuring this work creates real impact and keeps listening, collaborating, and designing with the First Nations communities at the heart. In collaboration with our friends at FIVE MILE RADIUS and Hassell, we curated a narrative for Arup’s new workplace in Magandjin/Meeanjin, Brisbane — embedding storytelling, materiality, and connection to place through spatial planning, finishes and furniture. Here’s a peek into the finer details of our furniture work together, where design is more than aesthetics — it is a reflection of Country, culture and community.

At the heart of everything we do is community. We recently had the privilege of spending (too short a) time in Yirrkala, Northeast Arnhem Land, connecting with an artist and the Buku-Larrŋgay Mulka team on an exciting arts project. Creating space for greater First Nations agency is more than a goal—it’s our responsibility. After a day of workshopping and big ideas, we were invited into a moment of stillness—walking the beach, climbing the dunes, and seeing Country through the eyes of those who call it home. These moments ground us in purpose and remind us why this work matters. #TheFutureIsBlak

It always starts with Country 101 Albert Street Tower is more than a building—it’s a commitment to honouring the past and shaping a future grounded in respect. Guided by Yagara Elder Gaja Kerry Charlton, the design is deeply connected to the Goori cultural ecosystem of Yagara Country, embedding the knowledge and wisdom of past and present into every element of its design. Through championing Indigenous technologies and Country-led design, the tower has been designed as a catalyst for change—a symbol of recognition, reciprocity, and ongoing custodianship of lands, waters, and skies. We are always grateful to have the opportunity to work on a large-scale project with talented project teams that are willing to push the boundaries, innovate, and change their ways of working to respond to community aspirations. This project is ongoing so we will be sure to share more as it evolves. QIC ADP Consulting Architectus Henning Larsen RCP TheFulcrum.Agency Urbis UAP | Urban Art Projects
