A big thank you to Sunshine Coast Airport for supporting Bloomhill's client transport service 🚙 Did you know Bloomhill’s Client transport service helps local cancer patients attend appointments when they cannot drive themselves? Bloomhill Cancer Care's Transport Service is led by passionate volunteers, from scheduling the client drives to driving the cars, our amazing team of volunteers pick clients up from their home, wait for them while they attend their appointments then safely return them home. 📣📣Call on Canberra📣📣 Last week, Bloomhill’s Finance Manager - Tiffany Nissen was invited to attend Bowel Cancer Australia's annual event “Call on Canberra” with 49 other early onset patients. Here is what Tiff had to say about the event: “This was the second year that BCA have held this event, and given the feedback from this year I am sure it will continue, hopefully going from strength to strength. Our day started boarding the bus in a chilly -4 degrees, but spirits and determination melted that away pretty quickly. In our bright red shirts highlighting the N2Y (Never 2 Young) campaign, we walked the halls of Parliament House and attended meetings with MPs and Senators from around the Country. All attendees had been diagnosed younger than the age of 50 - many were in their 20s or 30s. I met with Bob Catter and have meetings with other MP’s lined up soon. Two other Advocates from the Sunshine Coast represented us well, and we were fortunate to also follow up with some radio airtime on Hot FM. The 3 Policy Priorities of this event were: 🌟 Investment in primary care to raise awareness of age bias - put simply - bowel cancer is no longer an “old persons” disease. The sharp rise of a 266% increase over the past 3 decades in the 25-44 age group means that it is now the deadliest cancer for this age bracket. ⭐ Lower the screening age to automatically include those aged 45-49 (we are working tirelessly to drop this even further) and increased funding for colonoscopy services to ensure <30 day wait times are met. ✨ Increase federal funding for research into the causes of early-onset bowel cancer. We were joined by the CEO of Bowel Cancer Australia (BCA), 2 of their wonderful nurses, 2 amazing researchers and BCA's leading gastroenterologist. Our collective voices were heard, and we will keep moving forward in this space for change to happen!”

📅 June is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month! 📅 Did you know that starting from 1 July 2024, the bowel cancer screening age is lowering from 50 to 45? This means an additional 1.6 million Australians aged 45-49 will be eligible to request a screening test from the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program. Once you opt-in, you’ll receive a screening test every two years. Screening for bowel cancer is easier than you think. Early detection can save lives, so make sure to spread the word and get screened! 💚 #BowelCancerAwareness #BowelCancer #CancerAwareness #EarlyDetection #GetScreened #BowelCancerAwarenessMonth

Thank you so much to our loved client Neil for leading The Blooming Delicious Morning Tea, which raised $6,000 for our nursing and therapy care services to help people impacted by cancer. The morning tea was just magnificent, a fun time had by all, and Bloomhill thanks all involved at Oak Tree Retirement village for your generosity. Also, thank you to our Bloomhill Ambassador, Narelle, in the photo for speaking and engaging with everyone in the way that you do.
