The Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards (ASRS) are set to redefine how companies disclose their environmental impact. Developed by the Australian Accounting Standards Board (AASB), ASRS aims to make sustainability reporting transparent, consistent, and actionable. 💼 This means over 6,000 businesses will soon need to report on climate risks, transition strategies, and their Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. The goal? To empower investors, stakeholders, and companies to make informed, sustainable decisions for a low-carbon future. At the recent AER Summit 2024, we dove into the critical elements of these standards and their regulatory impact. Ready to see how ASRS will affect your business? Head to the BraveGen Academy for the full breakdown and start preparing today. https://hubs.ly/Q02Wp2_b0 #ASRS #AustraliaSustainabilityReporting #AASB

🌏 Day 2 at #AERSummit is here, and we're ready for action! We’re excited to continue the momentum with inspiring discussions on building resilient, nature-positive strategies for climate action. The conversations at the summit are clear: it’s time to move forward, even if it’s not perfect. "Don’t let perfect be the enemy of the good." - A mantra echoed by speakers here. The message? Start now, improve continuously, and push for lasting impact. A major highlight? Minister for Climate, Chris Bowen MP, acknowledgment that climate and nature must be tackled together – a huge step toward smarter, more impactful policies like Nature-based Solutions for risk mitigation and adaptation. Swing by the BraveGen booth to chat with us about how we can help drive sustainability forward together. Let’s make change happen! Inspiring conversations over breakfast in Melbourne... Kicking off this year's #AERSummit in Melbourne with an insightful networking breakfast panel, BraveGen's carbon consultant, Nick Ross, led a spirited discussion on “How ESG Leadership is Driving Decarbonisation.” This opening session gathered some of Australia’s leading minds in sustainability and governance, igniting conversations around the critical role of robust reporting and governance in achieving decarbonisation goals. Here’s what we took away from the panel: 1️⃣ Upcoming reporting standards: With mandatory sustainability reporting in Australia coming into effect on January 1, 2025, organisations must raise their governance frameworks to ensure accuracy, transparency, and avoidance of greenwashing. As Rosemary Bissett, Head of Sustainability Governance & Risk at NAB, emphasised aligning these standards with financial reporting practices is crucial. 2️⃣ Transparency & compliance in climate action: Cameron Ginn, Environment & Quality Manager - Construction at Fulton Hogan, shared insights on the importance of working with diverse suppliers to standardise emissions data. It’s a major challenge, yet vital for driving consistent, industry-wide improvements in emissions reporting. 3️⃣ Building social impact: Hayley Scott, Head of Social Impact at WINC Australia, highlighted the necessity of a step-by-step approach to integrating social agendas alongside decarbonisation goals—starting where you can, progressing, and making an impact over time. The conversation also touched on collaboration within the construction sector, with various stakeholders working together through the Australian Constructors Association (ACA) to establish clear market signals and reporting frameworks. This includes advocating for renewable diesel as a significant solution for reducing emissions across the construction supply chain. Thank you to all speakers and attendees who made this an engaging start to AER Summit 2024! Here’s to a fantastic lineup of sessions, connections, and inspiration for the path ahead.
