10 more days in the USA for our founder

View profile for Dr. Damien Rompapas, graphic

XR Visionary, CEO of ARUX, Director of BEER

ACT VI Started straight after Act V, but it begun with a week of being forced to be bedridden. Apparently the exhaustion of being a fun loving meme-lord across the states is too much even for me! Nonetheless, I still snuck in some adventures, met with some new friends, and am enjoying some short and sweet rest and relaxation as the team and I chase up leads. Only 10 days left before I go home :D

If you'll be in the Bay Area next week on July 18th, definitely drop by this event. Our founder Dr. Damien Rompapas will be speaking at this event and showing his infamous XR rig! A fantastic event to connect with a community passionate about  the world of VR, AR, CV and spatial computing!

Hi friends! Join us next Thursday for our July Meetup - we'll have presentations from a couple of AR founders who will share their unusual approaches: Jay Van Buren from Membit and Dr. Damien Rompapas, in from Australia (you may have seen him jetting around #AWE2024 with his flashy AR backpack rig). Plus, as always, we'll have lots of demos and cool folks to connect with. Please bring whatever you're working on to share, even if it's just a concept. See you there! ACT V: Return to base, & Deep Tech week! Apologies for posting this one a bit late, my body gave out in ways I wasn't expecting and I've been bedridden! After landing back in San Fransisco, I ended up at a night club enjoying the 'doof doof', where I picked up a side quest as a recommendation: Deep Tech week! The week started with a pre-party on a big ol' ship that had been retrofitted to become a museum (with the venue attached). Here; I saw many cool exhibits, robots, demonstrations, and really cool builds! The whole party had a 'cyberpunk' theme attached, so I fit right in! The week itself I didn't participate much in (since I came in late, most events were full). But I did get invited and dragged to several after-parties for networking. Having a bit of renown is still a foreign experience to me; but being the one that lights up the room on entry still puts a smile on everyone's (including my) face! I met so many interesting people; from physicists, rocket scientists, and "AI" trail blazers! The week ended with an absolute fuckin banger of a post-tech week party! I got given a 300 dollar VIP pass free as long as "The space man will show up". How could I refuse??? SO MANY PRETTY LIGHTS D: Part of the back scene was a treat, I got to see the flat-pack of what will be this year's "Burning Man" monument, a massive temple! There were other people at the party event who were just as lit up as I was! Since I've been bedridden from exhaustion, ACT V closes a little on a low note; Act VI is where things will come to an end.

ACT IV Part 1 (Bonus): Open Sauce. Besides getting caught in the Floirda storms on the way back to San Francisco, I made it back safely! Shortly after landing, happen circumstance I checked the email in the XR glasses, more specifically the SPAM folder to see something called "Open Sauce 2024 launch party". So rather than ignore the spam, I followed it, and I was greeted with many builders, hackers, and enthusiasts! The look on their faces when I had no idea about the Open Sauce 2024 conference was hilarious to say the least! Didn't have the dollarydoos in hand really, but I took the gamble, 200 bucks out of pocket to go and attend the next day! HOLY CRAP IT WAS AMAZING, well worth the money. I got to see so many well built, thought out, experimental and even hypothetical stuff being made by all that love to just build and be better, it's truly amazing what we can do when we put our heart and soul into it! (A few excerpts are attached). Between a walking 3D printer, a ice cold fireball server, to large robots, cars, and tesla coil inspired events! I had to recharge my batteries during the event (quite literally) so I sat down and gave a hand to help someone who was struggling to debug hardware. Very touching experience we can all learn from. It's beautiful to see these kinds of communities in the field, back home I'm hardly ever seeing events like this. I guess this is one part of another's culture I'm going to (even if forcefully) drag home with me :)
