    We made a post a few weeks ago on our socials for a bit of a laugh [a LOL/ROFL/LMAO if you will, hahaha!], but also for some real talk. The post had a cute Labrador wearing sunglasses on it that said recruitment is sh*t, because sometimes it just really is. But folks, it doesn’t have to be. At Brightside, we want to do the opposite. We want to make hiring happy, so that’s what we’re doing at our beaut little people + talent studio.     It’s been six months since we launched our people and talent studio, and being people who love to lean into change, we thought our brand palette needed a little tweaking. We love colour, [if you haven’t already guessed] and we’ve always been eager to portray our brightness in a space that can look quite bland at times. And with two other brands to launch under the Brightside Collective over the coming weeks that we want to seamlessly connect, it was time to get creative and make a few changes. And speaking of launching our new brands, as a little teaser, we’ll be bringing to life Fraction & Kodi. Fraction will be geared specifically towards senior fractional recruitment, and Kodi will be a dedicated brand for the tech & software space, but with a neuro spicy and inclusive twist! Let us know what you think about our new colour palette, and as always, give us a shout if you wanna talk building teams or making career moves.     We’ve been working in and around helping businesses for years now. Helping them grow, helping helping them reshape teams, and even scale back, too. And the common theme around where things go wrong? It’s not listening and making poor decisions. Not listening to feedback from leaders.  Not listening to employees when they have constrictive feedback and insights.  And most importantly, not listening to customers. We knew leading into creating Brightside that we had to take the market insights we already had, and to double down on feedback we received from people we trusted to create something that was fit for market. So we did. Do we think we’ve got it right? A little bit. Are we open to changing things as the market changes? Absolutely! Will we be flexible to meet the needs of our customers? You better believe it. So if you have any ideas around how you might need support with your people and talent challenges, then we’re all ears.

    Yes, you read that correctly folks. 0% Recruitment. It’s no secret that recruitment can be bloody expensive. And typically, the higher the salary, the higher the fee you pay. Why should a recruiter be paid more money because you decided to pay a candidate $20k more than you anticipated you would? The truth is, you shouldn’t have to pay more. It’s wrong, and simply unfair. At Brightside Collective, our rates are flat. Whether you choose to pay your new employee $80k or 180k, you’ll pay us exactly the same. And frankly, so you should. The same amount of work goes into the work behind the scenes for us to find them. Anyway, we think we’re onto something here.     Pals. Buds. Mates. Partners. For us, the friendships we’ve made in business mean the absolute world to us. And now more than ever, particularly after launching Brightside Collective back in November last year, they mean even more. Around seven years ago, we were introduced to a wonderful human by the name of Ryan Pinkerton from our pal Joe Fox. Joe was adamant that we meet with Ryan, and honestly, from the moment we sat down over coffee and started talking, it was pretty clear that we’d pals forever. Almost straight away we started to make impactful introductions to people in our respective networks, and we continue to do that to this very day. Over the past 7 years it’s been a beautiful, symbiotic relationship. A friendship we’re very grateful for. Thanks for your friendship and support Ryan. Here's cheers to many more years of laughs, beers, and success!

    There. We said it, and louder for the people at the back. Working in a people + talent studio as we do, we hear it all. And one thing we know for sure is that the main reason why people leave their jobs is always because of the way other people make them feel. And if you’ve got empathy and care, and you’re clued in on the signs, you can see it, too. They become quieter in meetings and on Slack. They stop contributing their ideas and opinions. And they start taking more sickies. Then BOOM. They resign. Obviously these examples are the obvious ones, but the moral of the story here folks? If you know better, then do better.

    G’day, 2024! Much food. Much wine. And manyyy good times were had over the holiday break, what about you? We only officially kicked off Brightside at the end of November, and already? Well, we’re pleased to be officially working with a couple of incredible businesses who are trusting us to help them build their teams, and we’re stoked. #watchthisspace And another thing that’s really putting a bounce in our step in 2024 is the fact that our product offering means we don’t just stop at recruitment and putting bums on seats.     We’ve been doing this Brightside Collective thing for less than a month now, and already? Well, we’ve learnt a lot. Let’s just say that. Apart from navigating new biz ownership and ALL THE things that go with it, we’ve found that the many businesses we’ve met with and plan to meet with in the new year have people + talent problems outside of recruitment that we ACTUALLY have the power to help solve. Like getting the right eye balls on ad-copy and then the right people to apply is hard yakka. We know that first hand. But we also have a few good recipes up our sleeve that we reckon can help many businesses change the way they attract the right talent. Now is most definitely not the time to be talking about all of this. We get it. But next year? We’ll be ready and rearing to jump in and help solve things that you never imagined recruiters could fix. Imagine that!
