Chair for Community and the Arts Councillor Vicki Howard today announced the return of the annual Christmas in Brisbane program, inviting families and communities to experience Brisbane’s seasonal celebrations across the city including; 🎄 The Enchanted Garden immersive light spectacular from 22 November 🎄 The Lighting of the Christmas Tree in King George Square on Friday 29 November 🎄 City Hall Lights with an exciting Christmas tale each evening from 6 December 🎄 Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols at Riverstage on 7 December, with the event also being live streamed at Victoria Park 🎄 South Bank will come alive with a line-up of events to celebrate the festive season from 14-22 December 🎄 Sono Lumo at The Star Brisbane, a free 10-night immersive light and sound experience from 4-15 December 🎄 Christmas Tiny Doors, an enchanting tiny doors scavenger hunt throughout the city from 1-24 December 🎄 Free events like the Elf’s Tiny Doors Workshop, the BrisStyle Twilight Markets and Christmas on Queen will spread the Christmas spirit across The City The Christmas in Brisbane program is an initiative of Brisbane Economic Development Agency in partnership with Brisbane City Council, City Parklands, South Bank Corporation, and The Star Entertainment Group at Queen’s Wharf Brisbane. Meet the newest additions to Brisbane’s CityCat fleet—introducing the CityDogs, celebrating the much-loved Bluey and her little sister Bingo – for real life!   Starting from today, these two playful CityDogs will be cruising along the Brisbane River, bringing joy to Bluey fans and families, and adding a splash of fun to our river journeys.   Sure to be a fan favourite and popular visitor attraction, what better way to explore the iconic locations featured in the hit TV show, Bluey, than aboard a CityDog? Howdy Brisbane!   This morning, American Airlines made history at Brisbane Airport with the arrival of its inaugural direct service, flight AA7, from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), representing a major boost for the region’s $10.7 billion visitor economy. With the United States being Brisbane’s third largest visitor market, Brisbane Economic Development Agency welcomes the new international service to bolster connectivity to the city and support hundreds of local jobs.   Starting today with 5 flights per week in each direction, American Airlines will increase to daily flights from December through to the end of March 2025.  The new service is part of the State Government’s Attracting Aviation Investment Fund (AAIF) in partnership with Tourism and Events Queensland and Brisbane Airport Corporation.
