✨CELEBRATING INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY AT ST ALOYSIUS COLLEGE: INSPIRING THE NEXT GENERATION✨ 🏫 Building Engineering in partnership with SEMZ visited St Aloysius College, North Melbourne for the International Women’s Day assembly. Rachel Richter, Head of Marketing, and Amani Eljari, Project Manager from Building Engineering along with Saskia Williams and Caera Hall, Project Managers at SEMZ, delivered an inspiring presentation encouraging students to explore opportunities in construction and beyond. 👷♀️ As part of Building Engineering's Women in Construction program, the visit aimed to showcase the evolving role of women in the construction industry and how it’s a field for everyone. Rachel Richter emphasised, "the world is co-ed, and so is the construction industry, where both men and women work side by side to build amazing things." She parallels St Aloysius’ recent transition to a co-ed learning environment. 🏗️ The presentation introduced Building Engineering and SEMZ, outlining their roles in bringing the exciting new school facilities to life. ✨BUILDING ENGINEERING LAUNCHES PPE RE-THREAD PROGRAM IN COLLABORATION WITH ASSEMBLED THREADS✨ 🌿 We have officially launched the Building Engineering PPE Re-Thread Program, an exciting step forward for sustainability! This innovative initiative reduces textile waste while supporting disadvantaged communities through our ongoing partnership with Assembled Threads. 🙌 Assembled Threads, a Melbourne-based social enterprise, provides training and employment in garment manufacturing, ensuring ethical wages for those in need. ♻️ The program collects used uniforms and PPE from our staff through company wide recycling bins. These garments are taken to the Textile Recyclers Australia factory, where they are processed and shredded to create new materials. Check out our behind-the-scenes video showing the program in action! 💬 "By recycling uniforms and PPE, we are helping reduce textile waste which currently sees less than 1% of end-of-life uniforms being recycled," said Rachel Richter, Building Engineering’s Head of Marketing. "By partnering with Assembled Threads, we are giving second life to used workwear and PPE." 💪 The impact? Four bins full of work clothes collected, totalling 9.5kg, with 8kg recycled and 2kg repurposed! Our efforts have saved 45kg of waste going to landfill, avoided 1,000kg of CO2 emissions, and conserved over 6,000kWh of energy. With six teams and 16 competitors, we had an epic day of fitness, fun, and team spirit! 💪🙌 Special shout-out to Tom, who took on the full triathlon twice after stepping in for Zac (thanks to a last-minute flight cancellation in Sydney). Officially opened in early 2025, this state-of-the-art facility features a 25-metre swimming pool, learn-to-swim pool, fully equipped gym, modern change rooms, and PE and Health studies classrooms. ⚽🏑🎾 Alongside the Aquatic Centre, we’ve also delivered cutting-edge sports fields, including a soccer pitch and a versatile hockey field that converts to tennis and netball courts! ✨BUILDING ENGINEERING SECURES RICHMOND PRIMARY SCHOOL MODERNISATION AND EXPANSION PROJECT✨ 🏫We’re thrilled to announce that Building Engineering, in partnership with the Victorian School Building Authority, will be leading the modernisation and expansion of Richmond Primary School. This project will see the creation of a state-of-the-art three-storey facility, providing enhanced learning spaces and welcoming an additional 100 local students 🎓👩🏫. 🌳With a focus on preserving valuable outdoor areas, the new building will seamlessly connect to the existing infrastructure via Level 1 link bridges. 🦺Richmond Primary School will remain operational during construction. A carefully planned approach will see the building site fenced off for the safety of students, staff, and residents. They spent the day touring three of our key subcontractors, gaining valuable insights into the world of construction materials and manufacturing. Berwick Fabrications gave our team a closer look at metal fabrication, showcasing the precision and skill that goes into every piece. Lux Precast Panels wowed us with their precast concrete panels, including a special look at the panels being developed for our Santa Maria College project. At Barra Steel, the team dove into the world of structural steel, learning how it forms the backbone of our projects. 🚀This hands-on experience is crucial to the success of our Graduate Program.
