Bunzl’s Inspiring Women in Bunzl series brings together the women of our APAC business units as part of a networking and development opportunity. Yesterday, staff from seven businesses gathered following this year's UN goals for International Women’s Day on the theme of Invest in Women. We had the pleasure of hearing from two guest speakers.   The first speaker was Damalie Tryan, Founder of #TheWigChic and part of the Migrant Women in Business initiative, who shared her journey as an orphan from Uganda to business entrepreneur in Australia. Damalie’s story is nothing short of inspirational and shows us where real resilience can take you.   Our second speaker was Kerryn Lancaster Senior Relationship Manager, Corporate Superannuation from Nestworth, who walked us through ‘Females, Finance and the Decades’, plus strategies on how we can ensure our financial literacy, security and wellbeing.    #InvestInWomen encourages us to work towards greater economic inclusion for women and girls everywhere, removing the obstacles that prevent equal participation in the economy. He then progressed to Manager of corporate accounts, Sales Director and finally to General Manager of the Hospitality, Facilities Management and Retail sectors. After another brief hiatus, Mark returned as Managing Director of Bunzl Safety & Lifting, bringing with him a leadership philosophy that is based on honesty, respect and putting people first. This enjoyment is only rivalled by his unwavering support for the Geelong Cats, a passion passed down from his grandfather. You'll often find him in his element at the MCG on game day, a true testament to his love for the game.

After 24 years with Bunzl Australasia, Malcolm Bailey has not only garnered a wealth of experience and expertise within the Healthcare / Medical Science industry but also built customer-centric culture for his team. “We deliver our customers real value, not just a price focus," says Bailey. With key strength areas in strategy and execution, Malcolm sights the ability to pivot when needed, manage within a crisis environment, and seize opportunities as they present themselves, as vital to success. And for this success - you need your team to buy into what you’re trying to achieve. "I believe people want to achieve and, as a Managing Director of Interpath Services, I know there are things I can do to help them be market leaders.” Malcolm’s direct involvement as a Board Member of a large not-for-profit organisation has also allowed for a more developed perspective in business. "If I can make a difference to any of the service support programs for the homeless or victims of domestic violence then it's been a good day”. Outside of the office, he enjoys early morning bike rides, a good gym workout, and is very comfortable in the kitchen producing Thai and Indian delicacies for family and friends. So, Malcolm – we need to ask. . . do you accept InMail requests to secure an invitation to your dinner table? #interpath #interpathservices #BunzlPLC #BunzlAustralasia #Lifescience

From his start with Bunzl in 1995 as the Sales & Marketing Director, Lance Ward (MD, Bunzl Australia & New Zealand) has made his mark. In this time the business has grown from less than $100m to more than $650m, and Lance has established himself as a strategic thinker who drives change. For Lance, leadership is about trust, and his open-door policy is well known in the business. "I try to lead with empathy, always seeking to understand by asking questioning and listening carefully. I put a lot of emphasis on building strong and trusting relationships, and being open and honest which helps us operate as empowered teams, which enables quick and effective decision making." Lance’s open-door policy extends to his home and friends, plus three grown children and their partners who are very much part of daily life. To relax he jumps onto his mountain bike or listens to (jazz) music - and is a recent convert to golf. Always one to give back, Lance is involved in community groups and sits on the board of the local Community Bank. As an enabler, helping others to achieve peak performance is important – demonstrated by his advancement of diversity and gender equality in leadership roles.

Celebrating NAIDOC Week 2024 - Exploring Art and Meaning This NAIDOC Week, join us as we explore the rich symbolism and heartfelt narrative behind inspiring Indigenous artwork painted by Kylie and David Hill. Kylie passionately shares the profound story embedded within each element and symbol of this remarkable piece. In her own words: "The artwork tells a story of connecting across country, symbolised by the top and bottom parts coming together like communities. The U shapes represent the people of Bunzl, uniting for reconciliation. Blues and greens signify healing in our waterways, with DNA lines symbolising our interconnectedness in this journey. Ancestors are depicted as white dots, watching over us and reinforcing our deep connection to country, where we work and thrive together." At Bunzl, we're honoured to embed the core meaning and messages of this profound artwork into our spaces across Australia, embodying and demonstrating our values of unity and reconciliation. It's more than just artwork—it's a testament to cultural understanding and respect. Let's celebrate the richness of First Nations artistry and stories, embracing their cultural significance every day. #NAIDOCWeek #FirstNationsArt #CulturalHeritage #Reconciliation #Bunzl #ConnectingCommunities #ReconcilationActionPlan
