CONNECTION | After another successful season with our valued partners Air New Zealand, we’re looking forward to a fantastic 2025 with growing travel options across the Tasman. New Zealand continues to represent Australia’s number one inbound tourism market. Air New Zealand’s seasonal service from Auckland to Cairns, which concluded last week, is always a popular choice for travellers and it will be great to see the black and white tail back here again from April next year. We are also excited to be welcoming Jetstar Airways’s first ever direct service between Cairns and Christchurch in April 2025. These complementary services offer customers exceptional connectivity across New Zealand’s north and south as well as extensive one-stop options to and from North America. We look forward to welcoming our Kiwi friends for their Tropical North Queensland getaways in 2025, while also extending holiday options for locals to ski, explore, wine and dine in New Zealand. #airnewzealand #auckland #cairnsairport #newzealand #jetstar #christchurch #kiaora

CELEBRATION I Our team were thrilled to take home the win for the ‘Business Resilience’ Award at last week’s Cairns Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence (BEX) Awards! This recognition highlights our rapid reopening of the airport during last year’s floods, and we owe this achievement to our incredible local community, and we sincerely thank everyone involved. We recognise that while our airport was able to recover, other members in our community continue to be impacted and this award represents the resilience, not just of our airport, but the entire region! We also want to extend our Congratulations to one of our airport partners, the Cairns-based team at Singapore Airlines for winning the ‘Marketing and Communications Excellence’ Award. Their nomination showcased their successful collaboration with various community stakeholders to launch their new A350 widebody aircraft on our Cairns – Singapore services. It was a fantastic evening, and we’d like to give a special thank you to Patricia O'Neill and her team for their unwavering efforts in promoting Cairns as a thriving region and supporting local businesses. Congratulations to all the finalists and winners last week and thank you for your contribution to growing our local economy. Richard Barker, Luke Greenslade-Horton, Cairns Chamber of Commerce

GROWTH | Key industry achievements in 2024 have primed Tropical North Queensland for major opportunities across tourism and freight. Cairns Airport CEO Richard Barker and Tourism Tropical North Queensland CEO Mark Olsen met with media today to reflect on the year’s successes and outline measures to keep the momentum going. Cairns Airport will close the year with the highly anticipated return of Cathay Pacific services from December 17, rounding out a series of international milestones including commencement of Singapore Airlines’ A350 widebody services, the historic arrival of AirAsia Indonesia, announcement of the first-ever direct connection to Christchurch with Jetstar and resumption of seasonal China Eastern Airlines flights early in 2024. Richard said: “The team at Cairns Airport has strategically targeted and delivered a number of key new routes in 2024, supported by our valued industry and government partners, and our region is poised for growth as a result.” Both Richard and Mark welcomed the recent ALP commitment of $10 million over four years to drive tourism, and called for bipartisan support of the initiative. Mark said: “Ongoing destination marketing is vital to keep momentum going and ensure the success of international routes. Funding pledged by the ALP will help make that possible, and we are seeking bipartisan support to enable continued growth of tourism to Tropical North Queensland and the rest of the state.” Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/gpRzq5tj #CairnsAirport #TourismTropicalNorthQueensland #Growth #TropicalNorthQueensland #VisitQueensland
