The impartial recovery of international travel was the main theme of Asia Pacific regional travel in 2023. While the region closed the gap to others in 2023, there is still significant ground to cover in 2024. In particular, the recovery of international travel both to and from China will be a crucial factor for Asia Pacific airlines. ● How soon can international travel return to pre-pandemic norms? ● What has changed in terms of passenger preferences for the Chinese traveller?

#Arajet #VamoArriba #CAPA

CAPA: International seat capacity now shrinking Global international seat capacity was 105.6% of 2019 levels for the week to 12-Aug-2024, with airlines offering a total of 68.3 million seats across their schedules. Over the first two weeks of Aug-2024 airlines cut 462,000 seats from their international schedules. The Americas was responsible for most of the decline, with Latin American regional capacity down 234,000 seats and North American capacity down 301,000 seats. Some of this was offset by small increases in Africa, the Middle East and Asia Pacific. Forward schedules indicate global capacity will drop by around 10 million weekly seats out to mid-Nov-2024.
