🚜 That’s a Wrap! Thank You! 🌱 The very first 'Roots So Deep' Australian tour has officially come to a close, and what an incredible journey it’s been! From Melbourne to Moura to Brisbane, we explored the power of regenerative agriculture, the science behind soil health, as well as the benefits for both climate change AND the bottom line. The conversations facilitated by Peter Byck, Dr. Terry McCosker OAM, and our amazing moderators - Jade Miles, Jo Sheppard and Zoe Maskell - helped lay the groundwork for what’s next: 🐄 How do we scale regenerative grazing in Australia? 👩🌾 How can policy and industry support farmers making the shift? 🛍️ What role do consumers, businesses, and investors play in shaping a more sustainable farming future? A huge THANK YOU to everyone who attended, asked questions, and joined the discussion. Your engagement proves that the future of farming is regenerative, collaborative, and grounded in science. Let’s keep the momentum going! Stay connected, keep the conversations alive, and continue building a resilient agricultural future together. 💬 What’s your biggest takeaway from the tour? Drop it in the comments! -- An additional thank you to: RCS Australia, AgriFutures Australia, AgriFutures evokeAG, Queensland Farmers' Federation, Brisbane Economic Development Agency, State Library of Queensland, ACMI, Carbon Cowboys, Burnett Mary Regional Group, Sustainable Table as well as the CarbonLink team, and our wonderful clients Amy & Rich for hosting us at Kinma for a farm visit. -- #RootsSoDeep #RegenerativeAgriculture #SoilHealth 🌿

A great insight from Sam Bartels after attending our 'Roots so Deep' screening in Brisbane: "In some cases the improvements documented were truly eye watering, both for what has been done and for what could, but isn’t."
It's been a week since my interstate ag event tiki tour came to a close. Over the past few weeks I had the privilege of attending AgriFutures evokeAG, Grow Festival, a Carbon Cowboys Roots so Deep screening, and part of the Berry Quest 2025 conference. As I left Berry Quest last week, my head was as full of ideas as my handbag was of free raspberry punnets (I am shameless). It’s taken a week for the dust to settle, I’m still synthesising, but here is an initial musing: To move towards an agriculture that creates sustained profit for people and the planet - we need more points of connection and understanding between technologists and agroecologists. My excitement about how technology can enable and support the transition of our food system to one that can not only cope with the increasing pressures of a changing climate, but simultaneously act as a powerful tool in a box of solutions, far outweigh my concerns about the potential negatives that stem from an increasing dependence on technology in food and agriculture. Companies like Agronomeye, FarmLab, and Beanstalk AgTech Drought Resilience Pitch Day winner resonAg Pty Ltd are the embodiment of what's possible when you use technology to unlock a harmony of insights, efficiencies, and visibility that create tangible benefit for land managers, banks, insurers, and ultimately, the eaters and wearers. However, at large, a disconnect persists. On the Thursday morning at AgriFutures evokeAG I sat across from someone who told me “Man’s worst invention was the cow”, and lamented how all our milk had yet to be replaced with manufactured lactoferrin. Later that night, at an EvokeAg and CarbonLink™ side event, I watched and listened as Peter Byck, supported by a team of scientists, conservationists, and farmers, eloquently outlined the multifaceted, proven benefits of AMP grazing in, Roots so Deep. A low-tech solution that could be applied across 3.5 billion hectares of land, to deliver improvements in profitability, productivity, biodiversity, carbon sequestration, and landscape hydrological function. In some cases the improvements documented were truly eye watering, both for what has been done and for what could, but isn’t. There are a multitude of reasons as to why, labour to move cattle being a significant hurdle. This particular issue provides another great example of where tech can be used to unlock a solution that simultaneously supports nature and farming efficiencies through virtual fencing Halter. I then found myself thinking back to Grounded and smiled at the thought of the conversation that would transpire between Dan Kittredge, Stacey Curcio, and my new inner-city laboratory lactoferrin-loving acquaintance. None of us are immune to the disadvantages of our echo chambers. We need much more connectivity between the sage wisdom of land managers, ecologists, and First Nations people and the enthusiasm, speed, and capital of technologists and investors. More to come
